Abortion

 1. 1. Abortion
 2. 2. Abortion

Definition of Abortion:the removal of an embryo or fetus from the uterus in order to terminate a pregnancy.

 3. 3. Topic Question

Should these unborn babies have legal rights?

 4. 4. Anti-abortion

Why can another human decide if this baby can be killed.

Almost all unwanted pregnancies end up being wanted later on in life.

After twenty-one days of conception, an embryo's considered human with a heartbeat.

Side effects such as death of mother, infection, and sepsis can occur.

 6. 6. Anti-abortion 2

Most people who have an abortion once will do it again.

It enables people to use protection.

It can also give the mother psychological problems such as depression and guilt.

 7. 7. Pro-Abortion

The idea of government controlling a women's body is not right.

A woman is the one who has to go through the struggles of labor, than raising a baby and having the obligations to support it.

This family might not have the money to keep the baby healthy or alive.

 8. 8. Pro- Abortion 2

With anti-abortion, back-alley abortions will occur which is very dangerous causing more women to be sterile or die.

Another argument is that abortion should not be considered murder since it’s performed before the fetus had developed into a human.

 9. 9. Government Policies

Federal-The judicial interpretation of the U.S. Constitution regarding abortion in the United States, comes from the1973 decision in Roe v. Wade, and other companion decisions, is that abortion is legal but may be restricted by the states to varying degrees.

States- certain states passed laws to restrict late term abortions and require parental notification for minors, and give abortion risk information to patients prior to treatment and usually a waiting time.

 10. 10. Local Government

Local- Local Governments don’t have much say in abortion, really only where they will allow a clinic to be placed.

Individual laws- based on morals and religion

 11. 11. Abortion Survey

Questions and Results:

1.What is your gender?

46.7% Male 53.3% Female

2. What is your age range between?

2. 13.3%- Between ages 14-15, 43.3% between 16-18, 20.0% between 19-21, 23.3% for 21 and older.

3.What religion are you?

30.0% catholic, 23.3% Jewish, 20.0% other, and 26.7% Atheist

 12. 12. Survey Statements

Statements:

4.Abortion should be illegal.

20.0% Agree, 30.0% somewhat agree, 50.0% disagree, 0.0% somewhat disagree.

5. Abortion should only be legal if the mother was raped or in danger of dieing.

20.0% Agree, 33.3% somewhat agree, 43.3% disagree, 3.3% somewhat disagree

6. These unborn babies should have the right to live.30.0% agree, 33.3%somewhat agree, 16.7% disagree, 20.0% somewhat disagree

 13. 13. Continued…

7. Many women who had an abortion once will have it again.

10.0% agree, 23.3% somewhat agree, 50.0% disagree, 16.7% somewhat disagree

8. Abortion enables women to be less careful in using protection.

20.0% agree, 23.3% somewhat agree, 46.7% disagree, 10.0% somewhat disagree

 14. 14. Aborted baby
 15. 15. Results Analyzed

Religion is usually a big part of decisionn making. Most people that took this survey were Catholic and a lot of 20% agreed while 30% somewhat agreed that abortion should be illegal. Also there is an argument age. Young kids are usually to immature to make a hard decision such as abortion.

 16. 16. Results 2…

The younger people that took the survey probably were more open and liberal to abortion, since most are closer to the left side of the political spectrum. If combined agree and somewhat agree for the question that states how abortion enables people to use protection, its pretty much 50/50 with disagreeing to the question.

 17. 17. …..

After all, the survey would not be the greatest to public policy since there was only thirty people that took it. Half of the people voted combined around agree for question number five and the same results occurred for disagree, most people have mixed ideas. Therefore most people believe in some abortion, but feel their needs to be a limit.
