Objectives:
1. Understanding user needs w.r.t the furniture in his/her accommodation.
2. Understanding the pain points of periodic maintenance of furniture.
3. Understanding the user if he/she is interested in renting furniture.
4. Understanding the user w.r.t modes of renting furniture.
5. Understanding Customer Preferences w.r.t the furniture.
Hypothesis:
1. People who stay in rented 1,2,3 BHKs prefer Semi furnished house with basic amenities
like chairs, beds and cupboards.
2. Periodic free maintenance of furniture is mandatory
3. User is interested in Renting furniture if the furniture is easily replaceable anytime he
wishes hassle free and at affordable rate.
4. User is more interested to have a touch and feel of the furniture in outlet stores before
booking it.
5. User wishes to order customized furniture according to his/her wish from the start of
ordering new furniture to replacing furniture.
6. User wishes to have COD, Online banking, UPI payment, Debit card, Credit card payment
options.
Question
Identify and explain the method to find the population size, assuming the target audience as
people between the ages of 24 and 35 living in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Please note that you
can assume target audience with a wider age group and from different regions. In such cases,
clearly state your assumptions. (Word limit: 100 words)

Assuming the following break-up in percentage of population according to age groups
0-15 – 20% of population
15-24 – 30% of population
24-35 – 30% of population

Hence, Population of Mumbai, Delhi & Bangalore in the age group of 24-35
= 3.6+3.3+2.4 = 9.3 = ~ 9 million

Calculate the sample size taking the confidence interval as 95%, the margin of error as 10%, and
the response rate as 10%.

these insights. Based on these insights, explain how you can validate the hypothesis you framed in

Response Insights:
1. Though Customers feel renting furniture is comfortable, due to unstated reasons, those
who stay in rented 1/2/3/3+ BHKs Prefer Semi Furnished Houses are interested in Buying
Furniture rather than renting it.
2. Customers are more inclined to visit any physical furniture store, to have the touch and
feel of furniture they want to buy rather than ordering them from online sites or taking
opinions from their friends and family.
3. Customers require Customized furniture according to their needs and preferences rather
than just selecting options available in the store.
4. Customers prefer net banking, Credit Cards, Debit cards, UPI and COD as the modes of
payments.
5. Customers Prefer to change furniture anytime, when they require, if they get good
discounts while purchasing.
Hypothesis 1:
People who stay in rented 1,2,3 BHKs prefer Semi furnished house with basic
amenities like chairs, beds and cupboards.
Analysis:
From the Survey 46.9% prefer Semi furnished house, who stay in a rented accommodation
(from Questions 1,2). Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.
Hypothesis 2:
Periodic free maintenance of furniture is mandatory
Analysis:
From the Survey, 46.9% are not particular about their time periods for their furniture to
be checked for maintenance. Hence This Hypothesis is Invalid.

Hypothesis 3:
User is interested in Renting furniture if the furniture is easily replaceable anytime he
wishes hassle free.
Analysis:
From the Survey, 40.6% wants to buy furniture whenever they require , irrespective of
prices. Hence This Hypothesis is Invalid.
Hypothesis 4:
User is more interested to have a touch and feel of the furniture in outlet stores before
booking it.
Analysis:
From the Survey, 66.8% wants to buy furniture while visiting a Physical furniture outlet
that would facilitate touch and feel. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.

Hypothesis 5:
User wishes to order customized furniture according to his/her wish from the start of
ordering new furniture to replacing furniture.
Analysis:
From the Survey, 84.4% wants to buy customized furniture with preferences towards
Sizes/Colour/Material etc. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.
Hypothesis 6:
User wishes to have COD, Online banking, UPI payment, Debit card, Credit card
payment options.
Analysis:
From the Survey, 56.3% prefer Net Banking,62.5% prefer CreditCards,50% prefer Debit
cards,53.1% prefer UPI and 34.4% prefer COD. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.

(Word limit: 100 words) Response Objectives: 1. Understanding user needs w.r.t the furniture in his/her accommodation. 2. Understanding the pain points of periodic maintenance of furniture. 3. Understanding the user if he/she is interested in renting furniture. 4. Understanding the user w.r.t modes of renting furniture. 5. Understanding Customer Preferences w.r.t the furniture. Hypothesis: 1. People who stay in rented 1,2,3 BHKs prefer Semi furnished house with basic amenities like chairs, beds and cupboards. 2. Periodic free maintenance of furniture is mandatory 3. User is interested in Renting furniture if the furniture is easily replaceable anytime he wishes hassle free and at affordable rate. 4. User is more interested to have a touch and feel of the furniture in outlet stores before booking it. 5. User wishes to order customized furniture according to his/her wish from the start of ordering new furniture to replacing furniture. 6. User wishes to have COD, Online banking, UPI payment, Debit card, Credit card payment options. Question Identify and explain the method to find the population size, assuming the target audience as people between the ages of 24 and 35 living in Mumbai, Delhi and Bangalore. Please note that you can assume target audience with a wider age group and from different regions. In such cases, clearly state your assumptions. Response Using https://www.surveymonkey.com/mp/sample-size-calculator/ The Sample size of 9 million population with confidence interval as 95% , Margin error 10% = 97 With a response rate of 10%, No. of Samples to be sent out for survey = 97/0.1 =970 Hence, Total No. of samples to be sent out for survey= 970 Question Prepare a questionnaire suiting your objectives. Submit the link to the survey. Question Analyse the data collected, submit the insights inferred from the data, and give proper reasons for these insights. Based on these insights, explain how you can validate the hypothesis you framed in the beginning. (Word Limit: 150 Words)

Though Customers feel renting furniture is comfortable, due to unstated reasons, those who stay in rented 1/2/3/3+ BHKs Prefer Semi Furnished Houses are interested in Buying Furniture rather than renting it. 2. Customers are more inclined to visit any physical furniture store, to have the touch and feel of furniture they want to buy rather than ordering them from online sites or taking opinions from their friends and family. 3. Customers require Customized furniture according to their needs and preferences rather than just selecting options available in the store. 4. Customers prefer net banking, Credit Cards, Debit cards, UPI and COD as the modes of payments. 5. Customers Prefer to change furniture anytime, when they require, if they get good discounts while purchasing. Hypothesis 1: People who stay in rented 1,2,3 BHKs prefer Semi furnished house with basic amenities like chairs, beds and cupboards. Analysis: From the Survey 46.9% prefer Semi furnished house, who stay in a rented accommodation (from Questions 1,2). Hence This Hypothesis is Valid. Hypothesis 2: Periodic free maintenance of furniture is mandatory Analysis: From the Survey, 46.9% are not particular about their time periods for their furniture to be checked for maintenance. Hence This Hypothesis is Invalid.

Analysis: From the Survey, 40.6% wants to buy furniture whenever they require , irrespective of prices. Hence This Hypothesis is Invalid. Hypothesis 4: User is more interested to have a touch and feel of the furniture in outlet stores before booking it. Analysis: From the Survey, 66.8% wants to buy furniture while visiting a Physical furniture outlet that would facilitate touch and feel. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.

All rights reserved Hypothesis 5: User wishes to order customized furniture according to his/her wish from the start of ordering new furniture to replacing furniture. Analysis: From the Survey, 84.4% wants to buy customized furniture with preferences towards Sizes/Colour/Material etc. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid. Hypothesis 6: User wishes to have COD, Online banking, UPI payment, Debit card, Credit card payment options. Analysis: From the Survey, 56.3% prefer Net Banking,62.5% prefer CreditCards,50% prefer Debit cards,53.1% prefer UPI and 34.4% prefer COD. Hence This Hypothesis is Valid.
