How effective is the combination of your main

 1. 1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary tasks? Joss Maguire
 2. 2. Ancillary Task: CD

Our ancillary task was to make a digi-pac for our music video’s single release. We decided to include: a poster, a magazine advert and a CD case.

Creating the pack was fairly simple as I’ve been familiar with photoshop for a number of years now so it was relatively straight forward.

The main focus of each piece was the actual artist and the song ‘When Love Takes Over’. I decided that it would then be better for the products to be produced for the single cover.

(:

 3. 3. Advert

This is my advert to be shown in a music magazine. here are some of the main points to think about:

No Model. I decided that having a logo for the album to keep the readers guessing about this new artist would gain interest into the single.

Colour Scheme. The colours are there to represent the romanticised feeling of the song. The blue is a very ‘deep’ colour and this represents the depressing feel of the video when the boy character dies, however the pink and the flowers in the heart give a feel of hope and romance that happens towards the end of the video.

Text. The text is generally in white to make it stand out a little bit more across the dark background. Having the single title in larger letters across the page will attract the attention of the reader, especially with the contrasting colours. The artists names are in smaller fonts at the bottom because they are extremely famous Djs (especially Mr. Guetta) therefore their names will easily be recognised.

 4. 4. Digi Pak

My digi pack colour scheme generally sticks to being very pastel in order of the more gentle nature of the singer. I’ve also included two images of the singer on the front cover (top left) and the behind the CD (below) so that the audience becomes accustomed to her face. On the back (top right) I’ve kept the title of the single present at all times so there is never any doubt as to what the song is, and it keeps it in the audience’s minds for longer. It also creates a type of theme throughout. As it is a single, the list of songs is short and therefore only has the name and remixes of one song. On the inside back of the cover the title of the production company is in large lettering, to again make the audience aware of who is responsible for this brand new artist and the both artists autographs are used. On the side panel I decided to have both artists name on it so it was constantly clear who was responsible, along with the single title faded on the background.

 5. 5. Poster

I’ve decided to go for a gaming theme with my poster. The use of the infamous ‘Space Invaders’ aliens and general theme was chosen as it is familiar to youth culture and also adds a ‘funky’ and ‘retro’ look which is high in fashion at the moment. The aliens are actually shooting out hearts to show love taking over, and the artists’ name and song title are also present just below this. The hmv logo is situated at the bottom corner so as not to overshadow the main feature which is the actual song.
