  2. 2. AMATEUR WRESTLING  It is known for excellent takedowns, especially against the legs.  It uses clinch fighting, throws, takedowns, joint locks, pins, etc.
  3. 3. AIKIDO  It is considered a grappling art, aikido is a Japanese martial art performed by flowing with the motion of the attacker rather than opposing it straight-on.  This requires much less physical strength, as the practitioner directs the attacker's momentum with entering and turning motions, followed by various throws or joint locks.
  4. 4. BOXING  It is a combat sport in which you use your fists to throw strikes in an attempt to knock out your opponent.  Because boxers stand up straight and fight with their hands, they are not protecting their torso to prevent a take down.
  5. 5. BRAZILIAN JIU-JITSU  It is mainly considered a ground-based fighting style, with importance on positioning, chokes and joint locks.  It concept is that a smaller weaker person can beat a larger person mainly using ground-styled techniques.
  6. 6. CATCH WRESTLING  This type of wrestling forms the base of Japan's martial art of shoot wrestling.
  7. 7. JUDO  Judo fighters use there knowledge of ne-waza(ground-grappling) and tachi-waza (standing-grappling).
  8. 8. KARATE  It is the core of kick-boxing, and specializes in striking techniques.
  9. 9. KICKBOXING  It is great way to practice stand-up fighting.
  10. 10. MUAY THAI  It is recognized as the foundation for striking in mixed martial arts.
  11. 11. UNKNOWN TO THE UFC Types of MMA not used in the UFC.
  12. 12. KUNG FU  Uses a number of fighting styles that have developed over the centuries in China.  Some styles include physical exercises that mimic animal movements include Eagle Claw, Hung Gar, Monkey, Praying Mantis, and Wing Chun.
