Simplified installation through the use of the Veeam repository • Need to be "root" • Install the Veeam repository for your own distro (download it from veeam.com) # dpkg -i ./veeam-release* && apt-get update • Install Agent # apt-get install veeam • Put the backup operator in the "veeam" group # usermod -a -G veeam <username> Installation
  13. 13. Backup via user interface • $ veeam • Backup mode: bare-metal, single volumes or files • Backup repository: Local disk, Veeam Backup & Replication shared folder or repository (requires 9.5 Update 1) • Schedule and number of recovery points
  14. 14. Backup via command line • # veeamconfig • To create a backup job here, use the command: • # veeamconfig job create And add the job parameters. • By using the command line it is possible to specify parameters such compressionLevel and blockSize, not available in the UI.

  16. 16. Integration with Veeam Backup and Replication If you decide to take advantage of a Veeam Backup & Replication server for storing backups, you will be able to see them all in a new tab called Agents.

Integration with Veeam Backup and Replication* The backup administrators working with Veeam Backup & Replication will be able to perform a number of operations with Veeam Agent for Linux backups: • Perform data protection operations: copy the Veeam Agent for Linux backups on a secondary repository and store them on tape. • Perform recovery operations: restore individual files and directories from Veeam Agent for Linux backups; recover entire disks and convert them into VMDK, VHD or VHDX format; restore directly on Microsoft Azure. • Perform administrative tasks: disable and delete Veeam Agent for Linux backup jobs, remove the Veeam Agent for Linux backups and so on. *Requires Veeam Backup & Replication 9.5 Update 1 or above
