  2. 2. <ul><li>How many of you are hungry right now? </li></ul><ul><li>Now imagine having to feel that way all of the time. </li></ul>
  3. 3. Hunger Facts <ul><li>As a result of hunger, six million children under the age of 5 die every year. </li></ul><ul><li>13.0 million of U.S. households were food insecure at some time during 2007. </li></ul><ul><li>104 million of U.S. households were food secure throughout 2007. </li></ul>

Facts <ul><li>Food secure—These households had access, at all times, to enough food for an active, healthy life for all household members. </li></ul><ul><li>In 2007, 36.2 million people lived in food-insecure households, including 12.4 million children. </li></ul><ul><li>Of these individuals, 8.2 million adults and 3.7 million children lived in households with very low food security. </li></ul>

Facts <ul><li>433 million people across the word are hungry. </li></ul><ul><li>16,000 children die every day from hunger related issues, 1 every 5 seconds. </li></ul><ul><li>In 2005, 1.4 billion people lived below the international poverty line (less than $1.25 a day). </li></ul><ul><li>820 million people in the developing world are undernourished. </li></ul>
  6. 6. Facts <ul><li>In 2006 there were 9.7 million. </li></ul><ul><li>9 million people die worldwide each year due to mal-nutrition. </li></ul><ul><li>5 million of these people are children. </li></ul><ul><li>There are one billion people that don’t even earn $1.00 a day. </li></ul>

Statistics <ul><li>Direct cost of hunger is estimated at 30 billion a year. </li></ul><ul><li>15 million children die each year from hunger. </li></ul><ul><li>For the price of one missile, a school full of hungry children could eat lunch every day for 5 years. </li></ul><ul><li>Every 3.6 seconds someone dies of hunger. </li></ul><ul><li>Hunger is the most extreme form of poverty. </li></ul>
