  1. 1. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE CONTACT: John Heid April 22, 2014 Manager, Public Relations P: 678.645.2076 email:john.heid@coxautoinc.com MANHEIM’S ENHANCED VEHICLE IMAGING SUITE GENERATES GAINS FOR TOYOTA FINANCIAL SERVICES (TFS) Case Study Examines TFS Growth in Conversion Rates, Bids and Retention ATLANTA – As a result of Toyota Financial Services’ (TFS) need to find a new and more efficient way to sell their vehicle inventory, Manheim and TFS formed a partnership that led to TFS’s implementation of Manheim’s Enhanced Vehicle Imaging (EVI). TFS’ conversion rates have risen 17 percent, and have achieved gains in both bids per sale and retention value, as documented in a recent case study released by both organizations. “We needed to adopt a new approach to sell our inventory,” said Mike Reid, national remarketing manager for TFS. “Moving from lane sales to online proved to be a disruptive process for our dealers at first. Making buying decisions without actually seeing a vehicle first hand was difficult for many dealers. But with Enhanced Imaging, our dealers are able to view their target vehicle inventory online very similarly to the physical auction lane. We are well on our way to creating a virtual showroom experience that allows our dealers to purchase vehicles with confidence around the world.” Designed to help consignors increase sales and conversion rates, EVI provides the highest resolution images available, delivering showroom quality that helps sell vehicles online quickly. The improved package, offered with Manheim InSight ECR Condition Reports, provides customers up to 18 vehicle images, ‘heat map’ graphics that help buyers quickly assess vehicle condition and a dedicated photo staff with the goal of ensuring consistent image quality and standards across all Manheim locations. During a 16-week trial of the product for TFS’ online auction sales from February-April 2014 at Manheim Ohio and Manheim Phoenix, Enhanced Vehicle Imaging (EVI) helped TFS achieve a 17-percent gain in conversion rate to 62 percent in a sample size of nearly 2,700 vehicles. During that trial, the results showed a 26 percent rise in the number of bids and a 1.1 percent increase in retention value, or an increase of $132 per vehicle. TFS fully adopted EVI for all of its vehicles consigned at the 20 Manheim operating locations with the product in May 2014. Projections are for all TFS consigned vehicles at those Manheim auctions – more than 65,000 vehicles in total – to go through the EVI process in 2015. Since the completion of the trial, Manheim expanded the number of operating locations offering EVI to 21 with the addition of Manheim Toronto. “This partnership has been very beneficial to both Toyota and Manheim,” said Bonnie Hensler, vice president of product development for Manheim. “The feedback has been positive for EVI, an innovative product designed to help our customers showcase vehicles better. As 21 of our operating locations already have the EVI photo booths in place, we are expanding the program to include other OEMs.”
  2. 2. TFS and Manheim have been working together for many years. Manheim has delivered a variety of business solutions such as OVE.com and EVI that have led to more efficient and profitable solutions for TFS. Among the first adopters of OVE.com, TFS offers its vehicles first on OVE.com. Not only did EVI help TFS’ sales results during the trial, but arbitration cases dropped 17 percent and customer satisfaction rose. Based on Manheim’s Buyer Satisfaction Surveys conducted before and after the implementation of EVI during the trial period, the case study reports new images have improved the perception of images in Manheim Condition Reports (CRs) versus the competition by 18 percent. The overall perception of CRs has risen by 15 percent as well. Hensler reported that the EVI solution was developed by Manheim for customers who have struggled to find vehicle condition reports with consistent imaging quality imaging. “We know that vehicles with a detailed CR sell quicker,” she added. The 21 Manheim operating locations currently with the imaging product in place include: Manheim Atlanta, Manheim Baltimore-Washington, Manheim Denver, Manheim Fredericksburg, Manheim Kansas City, Manheim Milwaukee, Manheim Minneapolis, Manheim Nashville, Manheim Nevada, Manheim New Jersey, Manheim Ohio, Manheim Orlando, Manheim Pennsylvania, Manheim Phoenix, Manheim Riverside, Manheim San Diego, Manheim San Francisco Bay, Manheim Seattle, Manheim Statesville, Manheim Texas Hobby and Manheim Toronto. FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE March 23, 2015 CONTACT: Teresa Rivera John Heid Save A Warrior Manager, Manheim Public Relations P: 571.420.6991 P: 678.645.2076 email: teresa@saveawarrior.org email:john.heid@coxautoinc.com MANHEIM PENNSYLVANIA RAISES MORE THAN $137,000 FOR SAVE A WARRIOR Wholesale Auction Continues Support of Veterans with Charity Auction Fundraiser MANHEIM, Pa., – To continue its support of veterans around the United States, the Manheim Pennsylvania wholesale vehicle auction hosted a gala and charity auction to benefit Save A Warrior on March 19 to help the auction raise more than $137,000 for the Malibu, Calif., based organization that helps veterans “detox” from combat experiences. “Our organization is grateful for this support from Manheim Pennsylvania, its leaders, staff and customers,” said Ronald “Jake” Clark, founder & executive director of Save A Warrior. “We know their history for supporting veterans, so we are extremely honored to receive this support. This donation will truly help us provide the support and services our veterans need.” In support of Save A Warrior and its programs, Manheim Pennsylvania employees and customers raised this donation as part of the wholesale vehicle auction’s fourth-annual, two- day Xtreme Spring Event held March 19-20, and a separate fundraiser on March 7. Manheim Pennsylvania, located at the 1190 Lancaster Road, hosted the world’s largest highline vehicle auction – a “100 Grander” sale – featuring many Rolls Royce, Ferrari, Maserati, Lamborghini models and other high-dollar vehicles earlier in the day on March 19. Later in the day, the auction hosted a gala and charity auction, featuring the sale of a fully-loaded 2012 Toyota Tacoma pickup truck that was bought for $47,500. The purchaser then donated the truck to Save A Warrior as well. “I am humbled when I look back at Manheim Pennsylvania’s support of our veterans over the last few years,” said Julie Picard, vice president and general manager of Manheim Pennsylvania. “The work that Save A Warrior does to support the young men and women returning home from combat is very impressive. We really feel fortunate to be able to support this organization and the soldiers who have fought for our country.” Prior to the start of the charity auction, Picard presented Save A Warrior with a $5,000 donation from Cox Automotive, Kelley Blue Book and NextGear Capital, Inc. On March 7, the auction raised more than $6,000 for Save A Warrior at a screening of the documentary “War Comes Home” held at The Barn at Overlook Park in Manheim Township. Save A Warrior has changed countless lives through its "war detox" program, which supports those suffering from Post-Traumatic Stress (PTS). Save A Warrior, which has helped veterans from across the nation, specializes in serving active duty military, National Guard reservists, veterans, law enforcement, and other first responders who have experienced psychological trauma.
  4. 4. A dog tag display featuring 2,200 acrylic dog tags was on display during both the auction/gala and Xtreme Spring Sale. Donors received an acrylic dog tag for a $10 donation. These 2,200 dog tags are to help illuminate the challenge that Save A Warrior is helping solve, as 22 Post- 911 Warriors are lost each day to PTS. While half of Save A Warrior’s participants report previous suicide attempts and about 90% report experiencing suicidal ideation prior to coming to its program, Clark reports none of the program’s participants have resorted to suicide after completing the program. “They're all still here,” Clark said. “We are saving lives and helping veterans. To learn more about how this is possible, please keep reading on our website: http://www.saveawarrior.org/.” Supporting groups like Save A Warrior has been a priority for the Manheim Pennsylvania auto auction for several years. Since 2012, customers and employees of Manheim Pennsylvania have raised more than $180,000 for national, state and local veterans’ organizations. These groups include Wound Warrior Project, Wreaths Across America, Keystone Wounded Warriors, and Vet21Salute, a local Lancaster-based military honor guard. In addition, the Manheim Pennsylvania auto auction sponsored the Memorial Day parade in Salunga, Pa., in 2014, and is working with the township board to plan another event in 2015. 11. 11. Case Study on Toyota Involvement with Launch of Enhanced Imaging Background Toyota Financial Services (TFS) focused on an auction-based lane sales approach to move their vehicle inventory, using Manheim’s new Enhance Vehicle Imaging Suite as a catalyst for growth. Customers like TFS asked Manheim to help make it easier to find vehicle condition reports and provide consistent imaging quality. Introduced to customers in May 2014, the Enhanced Vehicle Imaging Suite is currently at 21 of Manheim’s North American locations as part of Manheim’s InSight Electronic Condition Report. Objective To help TPS increase sales at auction. When the economic downturn hit in 2008, dealer attendance at auctions declined as dealers were spending more at their dealerships to help manage sales and marketing efforts as sales were declining.
