A Fun, Fundraiser the Protects Children!
Chances are a child from your school will need to know when and how to say
“NO!” to an adult they should be able to trust. 1 in 5 girls and 1 in 10 boys are
sexually exploited before age 18.
Chances are a child from your school will need to know how to handle an
Internet predator. The U.S. Department of Justice reports “one in five children,
10 to 17 years old, get unwanted sexual solicitations online.
Chances are a child from your school will need to know how to escape from a
dangerous person. In a typical year 797,500 children reported missing; 58,200
children were abducted by non-family; 115 children were the victims of the most
serious, long-term non-family abductions.
Chances are a child from your school will need to know how to protect their self from a physical attack.
Forty-four percent of rape victims are younger than 18 years old. Two-thirds of incarcerated violent sex
offenders said their victims were younger than 18. About 15 percent of imprisoned rapists said their victims
were 12 years old or younger.
Help Give Kids a Chance!
Our programs have been offered through schools, park districts and community organizations since 2001. All
instruction is designed to teach an awareness of danger, ways to avoid danger and what to do if physically
assaulted.
“The Best Defense” program is designed to meet the criteria outlined in National Center for
Missing and Exploited Children’s Education Standards Task Force for programs to teach
personal safety to children.
Our curriculum includes 25 discussion topics and 25 self-defense maneuvers
integrated into a course called “The Best Defense”. Each participant receives a
copy of the book “Street Smarts & Self-Defense for Children”, a graduation
certificate, and a wallet-sized safety card. “The Best Defense” was designed
by professional educators and self defense experts to be safe, simple and
effective. The focus is on avoiding violence and only using self-defense
maneuvers as a last resort. We will provide a One Million Dollar Insurance
Certificate indemnifying all parties.
Our PTA/PTO partnerships works as follows. Pick the program format that’s best for your needs, then schedule
a date and reserve space at your school. We’ll furnish a customized flyer/registration form that is sent home
with the children and promotional posters. Parents complete the form and return it, with payment, to the school.
Each child gets their own book, a $20 value!

Frequently Asked Questions
Is this the same as the DARE Program or other safety training
offered by the police ?
No. While some DARE Instructors recognize the need for this
type of training and do their best to “fill in the gaps”, the core
DARE curriculum deals with drugs and alcohol. Other police
programs tend to be “recovery” oriented focused on DNA,
fingerprints, dental records, etc. The Best Defense program
teaches avoidance, street survival and self-rescue skills.
Is this a Martial Arts class?
No. Martial Arts are great, if you have the time and desire. We
don’t have “belt promotions”, board breaking, katas, forms,
competition or tournaments. Our focus is simple, effective
techniques and strategies that can be learned quickly and easily.
What about shy and/or non-athletic kids?
The Best Defense Program is excellent for children needing to
improve self-esteem and self-confidence. No special skills or
abilities are needed. The program is fun and non-threatening.
What age range is appropriate?
The Best Defense Program is available for children, teens and
adults. Children as young as 6 years old benefit from the program.
