1. 1. CD Cover Analysis
Joe Hale
2. 2. This CD is by Steel Panther, called Feel The Steel, and was released in 2009.
The band are a heavy metal/80s glam rock band, and this clealry portrayed in the CD album cover, due to the the use of the colours and the imagery mainly. The main colours used are pink/purple and black, which are seen to be typically 80s glam rock colours, and with the addition to fire it adds the heavy metal element to the album cover, which helps represent their music. Also due to the band being on the album cover, due to their hair, clothing, tattoos and poses, you can quite clearly tell the genre of their music from their representation they give off, which is also a bit risqué, which ties in well with their music as their lyrics are very ‘near to the knuckle’ hence the ‘Parental Advisory’ sign on the album cover.
Steel Panther – Feel The Steel
3. 3. P-Money is a rapper, and his album ‘Money Over Everyone’ was released in 2009.
This album cover gives a good representation of the genre of his album, as rap is often linked with graffiti; which is sprawled all over the walls and the stairs on the album cover, violence; which is seen by his hand gestures, as he makes a gun symbol, but also a certain type of clothing, which is represented here as he wears a hooded tracksuit, but also a very expensive looking watch and rings, and this is a very typical look for a rapper.
P-Money – Money Over Everyone
4. 4. This album is Blur’s The Best Of album, released in 2000, which features a cartoon image of each member of the band.
This is very different to the previous two album covers as it is very simplistic, using just bright colours and cartoon images of the members of the band. This is effective because it is bold, and will stand out. As the images are recognisable, but need some time to look at them, this draws in the person looking at it
Blur were a Brit-Pop band, and even though they were more rock than pop, the bright colours give the pop effect to the album cover.
Blur – The Best Of
