What are Our Objectives• Hands on business experience by interning at an entrepreneurial company in Beijing.• Experience the topics discussed in the classes for the Minor in Entrepreneurship (ex- strategy, marketing, writing a business plan, finances...) in action during their internship.• Each student will have different personal objectives for their internship experience (ex- some are interested in finance, others are interested in social entrepreneurship...).
    5. 5. =Who is coming – 10 UNC Chapel Hill undergrads in the Entrepreneurship Minor. – Students will not have a background in Chinese language. – Age 18-24
    6. 6. When, where• 8 weeks in Beijing• June 4th – July 27th 2011• Study – First week will be all courses (intro to Chinese language and culture and their entrepreneurship course) and an orientation to Beijing.• Internships – w/c June 4th: Monday -Thursday – w/c June 13th to w/c June 27th Monday - Friday – w/c July 2nd to w/c 27th July: Monday - Wednesday• Based at International Dorm of Capital Normal University
    7. 7. =What Do We Look for – Students intern at a company that is entrepreneurial. – Company provides real work – Selection criteria • Company with minimum of 10 staff members • Actively involved China business community • Established in China for more than 2 years • Fully funded • Availability of founder to mentor intern • Willingness to complete end of program evaluation
    8. 8. =Student engagement – Students will be required to write a case study based on their internship experience. – Students to keep a blog / journal of their internship experience that they can use as field notes for their case study.

Evaluation• My internship experience was challenging and educational.• My supervisor at the internship site was helpful and supportive.• My working conditions during the internship were satisfactory.• I was given meaningful tasks and projects to complete during my internship.• I would recommend my internship placement to a friend.• I was pleased with my salary/wages for my internship.• I was sufficiently prepared for the internship experience.• The internship program enhanced my understanding of entrepreneurship.• I am satisfied with the Entrepreneurship Internship program overall.
