  1. 1. CASE STUDY NCR – PTC PARKING EXPANSION Challenge NCR’s Peachtree City facility houses its parts distribution and service operations for North America. The construction of 18,000SF of Call center and lab space within the 381,840SF facility required NCR to increase its onsite parking capacity. Of greatest importance was the minimized disruption to current parking requirements and limit the unavailability of existing parking spots during construction. Further accessibility to the west bound highway at the facility was made difficult to portions of the parking area due to traffic controls and the recent installation of medians. Solutions A phased approach was used to construct the road connecting existing parking lot areas and the addition of 110 new parking spaces throughout the site. By restriping one of the parking lots, sufficient new parking spaces were created to offset the lost spaces by construction crews and staging areas. In order to draw on local project experience and relationships with the County and GDOT, the Architect/Civil Engineer and General contractor who had previously worked at the facility, were selected via a leveraged negotiated bid process. To minimize the demand on the storm water system on an already maximized site, half of the parking spaces were paved using pervious asphalt. Results 110 Parking spaces were successfully installed in a period of 13 weeks, with no disruptions of parking space shortages occurred during construction.  110 Parking spaces, cleanout of retention pond and construction of a 15ft retaining wall for $1.57 M in only 13 weeks.
