Dental implantation

  1. 1. Dental implants have been the new buzz word in dentistry for many years. They have over a 30 year track record and are very successful. When people lose teeth it can cause other teeth to shift into that space.
  2. 2. Also losing a tooth will cause bone loss around that site because the tooth stabilizes the bone around it. Without teeth the body will resorb the bone in the jaw. This can cause a persons face to have that “sunken in” look. This can be very traumatizing in terms of body image and nutrition.
  3. 3. The good news is at Enamel we can restore spaces where teeth were lost with a predictable and strong restoration that can last a lifetime! With implants we can restore one tooth, multiple teeth, or a whole arch.
  4. 4. A drawback to Implants is that they take 4-8 months to complete. The first step is to make sure there is enough bone. If there isn’t, the site must be grafted and must wait for healing about 4 months. Then the implant can be placed and we must wait another 4 months for the bone to fuse to the implant so it can hold the crown.
