It has done what a lot of industry leaders have failed to do; a state of video marketing survey. The research, conducted in 2015, had respondents from both marketing professionals and online consumers. Though the results are intriguing, it presents nothing new video marketing had anticipated coming into 2016. Here are the top 6 key take away from the Report for business owners, entrepreneurs and marketers. Video as a Marketing Tool The survey says 61 percent of businesses interviewed said they are currently using video as a marketing tool. ((Give a brief background on the available marketing mix)) It’s not difficult to see why of all the marketing tools available; business owners would choose this medium. You want customers to purchase your product? (Yeah that is obvious). In fact, you want them to come for more. You want them to become loyal customers; leading to a repeat purchase. You want them to tell the good news about how effective your product or service is to their friends and families. So for the 61 percent of those who were polled to conducting business using videos as a marketing tool, I say thumbs up and the way to go!

Take Away 1 88 percent of businesses say is an important is an important part of their marketing strategy. 76% believe that it provides a good ROI. Now hear this; 93 percent of those using videos say it has increased customers understanding of their product or service. VIDEO ON YOUR HOMEPAGE IS A MUST! The verdict of the report is that Home Page explainer videos were under-utilized; only 45 percent of businesses had explainer videos on their home page. But out of this number, 83 percent have had success with those homepage videos and considers them very effective. This confirms the long-held view that the true potential of video marketing is yet to be fully realized. Takeaway 2 Let’s face the facts and be realistic here; your marketing strategy doesn’t have to focus solely on videos to be successful, that is unsustainable. However, a video on your website and website you have spent your hard earned dollars to build is unpardonable.

This point is even more profound when the survey reported that an overwhelming 98 percent of respondents watched an explainer video to learn more about a product or service. Video remains a persuasive conversion and learning tool among your consumers. Stop being boring, get off your high horse and start doing what would set you apart from the competition. VIDEO AS A SOCIAL MEDIA MARKETING TOOL I’m a key witness to how many businesses spend their hard earned cash on video creation so much so that they forget about video promotion. And talking about sharing…70 percent of users say they have shared a brand’s video with a friend or on their social media channels. 76 percent of users say they would share a branded video with their friends if it was entertaining. Moreover, 69 percent would share a branded video if it contained information that might be of interest to their friends. Take away 5 Apart from making sure you have a branded video on your home page, make videos for your social media channels…because a staggering 97 percent of consumers would happily share it with their friends and social networks. VIDEO AS A SUPPORT TOOL Most customers are opposed to calling your customer service team for any support services. They would instead prefer to watch a video that explains how to solve the problem. You would cut down on customer service cases; saving you valuable time and resources. Take away 6

Providing short and simple videos demonstrating how to use your product let customers help themselves without contacting you. Providing adequate resources for communication feedback and support retain customers and video performs this function incredibly well.
