Using the Learning Platform: STRIVE example <ul><li>STRIVE Background </li></ul><ul><ul><li>Five year program (2008 – 2012) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Funded by USAID – Displaced Children and Orphans Fund (DCOF) </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Created to identify good practices, build an evidence base for, and enhance learning about the effects of economic strengthening projects on child well being </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Focus on conflict- and disaster-affected countries in Asia and Africa </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Consortium of organizations, managed by AED </li></ul></ul><ul><ul><li>Currently, STRIVE partners are implementing four country projects </li></ul></ul>
    4. 4. <ul><li>Philippines (AFE) – Strengthening the seaweed value chain to increase household income, leading to improvements in children’s wellbeing in dimensions like education and health. </li></ul><ul><li>Afghanistan (AED & MEDA) – Improving youth work skills acquisition and workplace safety by strengthening the businesses that employ them through value chain development and microfinance. </li></ul><ul><li>Liberia (ACDI VOCA) – Fostering behavioral change around education and nutrition through agricultural value chain development, working in close partnership with local schools. </li></ul><ul><li>Mozambique (SAVE) – Improving education and nutrition outcomes for children by building household assets and social capital through village savings and loans groups and rotating labor schemes that increase household income. </li></ul>STRIVE Country Projects
