Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth_ (178)

  1. 1. Who Is Jesus Of Nazareth?Who was Jesus associated with Nazareth? For nearly two thousand years, the world has debated thisquestion. Some say He would be a prophet. Some think he or she was a madman. Still other peoplethink He was a excellent teacher. But for those who recognize His voice, the question is not Who wasJesus of Nazareth?, but rather Who is Jesus of Nazareth? Because unlike additional men of history, christ of Nazareth was, is, and will be for all of eternity.A careful examination of the historic record reveals that jesus of Nazareth is nothing under the Wordof God home as flesh among males. The Holy Spirit of God became a man as well as walked amongus:"in the beginning the Word already existed. The word was with God, and also the Word was God."steve 1:1 (NLT)"So the Word became individual and made his home in our midst." John 1:14 (NLT)"In Christ life all the fullness of lord in a human body." Colossians 2 :9 (NLT)While the majority of the worlds people desperately search for truth - to become nearer to GodAlmighty, the creator of the Universe - the door is wide open for them to encounter a personalrelationship with that exact same God. He is the same yesterday, today, and tomorrow. His name isJesus associated with Nazareth. But dont take my word for it. God includes a number of identifiable character traits. If Jesus ofNazareth is worthy of the name of God Almighty as well as Lord of Heavens Armies, then thehistorical account associated with His life will reveal that He shared these unique traits. Lets examineall of them.Omniscient (All-Knowing)The definition of God requires Him to become all-knowing. God must have understanding of allthings, including the thoughts of others. Did Jesus exhibit this character trait? yes. He did.History reveals a number of instances in which jesus displayed His omniscience. RIght here, wellexamine a few.The Coin In The Fish - Jesus illustrated His understanding of the future, as well as His understandingof the most minute details of development when He revealed in order to His disciples that they wereto trap a fish, open its mouth, and find a large silver coin inside:"drop the lake and throw in a line. Open the actual mouth of the first fish you catch, and you will find alarge silver coin." Matthew 17:27 (NLT)The Samaritan Woman - on meeting a Samaritan lady, Jesus told her everything your woman hadever done. Their knowledge was enough to convince her that He had been the Messiah, and Hisphrases were enough to convince many in her town that hes the Living Son associated with God:"Many Samaritans from the village believed in christ because the woman had said, He told meeverything we ever did!" steve 4:39 (NLT)"You Know Everything" - the disciples, who spent additional time with Jesus during their earthlyministry than anyone else, testified that He knows everything - the very definition of omniscience:
  2. 2. "Now we understand that you know everything, and theres you dont need to question you. From thiswe feel that you came from God." john 16:30 (NLT)"A third time he requested him, "Simon son of John, do you love me personally" Peter was hurt whichJesus asked the query a third time. He said, Lord, you know everything. You know that i love you."John twenty one :17 (NLT)12-Year aged Jesus In The Temple -- As a young boy, jesus and His family made a pilgrimage to theTemple in Jerusalem. While there, Jesus astonished the Jewish religious teachers with Hisunderstanding:"3 days later they lastly discovered him in the forehead, sitting among the religious teachers, listeningto them and asking them questions. All who heard him or her were amazed at his knowing and hisanswers." Luke 2 :46-47 (NLT)"how does He Know All This?" - Jesus taught in the forehead, and the people were amazed at thedepth of His knowledge, since He was not a man educated and trained through men:"Then, midway through the festival, Jesus went up to the Temple as well as began to teach. Thepeople had been surprised when they heard him. How does he understand so much when he wasnot trained? they asked." John 7:14-15 (NLT)"One Of You Will Betray Me" - Jesus had fore-knowledge of His unfaithfulness. He knew that one ofthe most trusted members of their inner-circle would betray him or her :"Then Jesus said, I chose the twelve individuals, but one is a demon. He was talking about Judas, son of Simon Iscariot, one of the Twelve, who does later betray him." steve 6:70-71 (NLT)Jesus Knew Of His death - Jesus had full knowledge of His purpose in coming into the world. Heunderstood what would happen to Him, the hands by which it would happen, and the miraculousevent which would take place three days later :"From then on Jesus started to tell his disciples obviously that it was necessary for him or her to go toJerusalem, and that he might suffer many terrible points at the hands of the elders, the leadingpriests, and the teachers associated with religious law. He would end up being killed, but on the thirdday he would be elevated from the dead." Matthew 16 :21 (NLT)Omnipotent (All-Powerful)A second character trait of God is omnipotence. By definition, God is all-powerful. He has power overall things. Did Jesus associated with Nazareth exhibit this character trait? History reveals he did.The Power To eliminate Sin - According to the aged Testament, only God has the power to forgivesins. And the Prophet Jeremiah prophesied of the day when God will forgive men of their wickednessand not again remember their sins:"And I will forgive their wickedness, and I will never again remember their sins." Jeremiah 31:34(NLT)Yet, in spite of His knowledge that only God can forgive sins, Jesus clearly announced His own powerto forgive sins, thus revealing himself as God:"viewing their faith, Jesus said to the paralyzed man, My child, your sins are forgiven. But some fromthe teachers of religious law who were sitting there thought to on their own, What is he saying This is
  3. 3. blasphemy! Only lord can forgive sins!a " Mark 2:5-11 (NLT)Power To Lay Down their Life - Throughout history, men and woman possess died. Despite theimmense energy some of these individuals wielded, not a single one of them displayed the power tocome back to life once dead. Yet Jesus claimed to possess this power:"the daddy loves me because i sacrifice my life so I may take it back again. No one can consider mylife from me. We sacrifice it voluntarily. With regard to I have the authority to lay it down when I wantto and also to take it up again." john 10:17-18 (NLT)Three days and three evenings after His crucifixion, jesus of Nazareth exhibited this power.Power Over wind and Waves - like one would expect of lord, Jesus of Nazareth experienced powerover wind as well as waves:"When christ woke up, he rebuked the wind and the raging waves. Suddenly the storm stopped andall was calm. Then he asked them, Where is your faith? the disciples were terrified as well asamazed. Who is this guy they asked each other. When he gives a command, even the wind and surfobey him!" luke 8:24-25 (NLT)Power Over Fish - much like His power of the blowing wind and waves, Jesus illustrated His powerover all associated with creation by commanding the movements of fish:"Then he said, Throw out your net on the right-hand aspect of the boat, and youll get some ! So theydid, plus they couldnt haul in the internet because there were so many fish in it." John 21:6 (NLT)His Breath Blew Down Soldiers - the Roman Army is known all through human history as one of themost ruthless and powerful fighting causes the world has ever known. Yet, christ of Nazareth castRoman soldiers to the ground with the very breath of His mouth :"As Jesus said I AM he,a they all drew back as well as fell to the ground!" John 18 :6 (NLT)Power over Physical RealmIn addition, the miracles of Jesus testify to His identity. These people proclaim His power over thephysical universe:"a man with leprosy came as well as knelt in front of Jesus, pleading to be healed. If you are willing, you can heal me and make me clean,a he said. Moved with empathy, Jesus reached out as well astouched him. I am willing, he said. Be healed! Instantly the leprosy disappeared, and the man washealed." Mark 1 :40-42 (NLT)"following Jesus left the womens home, two blind males followed along behind him, shouting, Son ofdonald, have mercy on us!a They went right into the home where he was remaining, and Jesus askedall of them, Do you believe I can cause you to see? Yes, head of the family, they told him or her, wedo. he then touched their eyes and said, Because of your faith, it will happen. then their eyes wereopened, and they could see!" Matthew 9 :27-30 (NLT)"among the men lying there had been ill for thirty-eight years. Whenever Jesus saw him and knew hehad been sick for a long time, he asked him or her, Would you like to get nicely I cant, mister, thesick guy said, for I have no one to put me into the swimming pool when the water bubbles upward.Someone else always gets there ahead of me. christ told him, Stand up, pick up your mat, and walk!Instantly, the person was healed! He rolled up his sleeping mat as well as began walking!" John 5 :5-
  4. 4. 17 (NLT)"he or she saw that they were in severe trouble, rowing hard and struggling against the wind as wellas waves. About three oclock each morning Jesus came toward them, walking on the water. Heintended to go past all of them, but when they saw him walking on the water, they cried out in terror, considering he was a ghost." mark 6:48-49 (NLT)And Jesus performed many other miracles which required power over the physical universe, far toomany to become examined here.Omnipresent (Ever-Present)By definition, God is actually omnipresent. He is everywhere at all times. He exists in all places in thepast, present, and long term. Can this be said of christ Did Jesus of Nazareth really exhibit thischaracter trait? Yes. He do."I Saw a person Under The Fig Tree" -- Upon first meeting Nathanael, Jesus proclaimed that Henoticed him under the fig tree earlier that day. His declaration mesmerized Nathanael, whoacknowledged this as knowledge which no other man could have. However Jesus was there. Sincethe omnipresent Spirit of god, He was present when Nathanael was under the fig tree:"As they approached, Jesus said, Now here is a genuine son of Israel - a man of complete integrity. How do you know about me? Nathanael asked. Jesus replied, I could see you under the fig treebefore Philip discovered you. Then Nathanael exclaimed, Rabbi, you are the boy of God - the King ofIsrael!a " John 1:47-49 (NLT)The Holy Spirit - God is Spirit, and also the Spirit of God grew to become flesh in the nameassociated with Jesus of Nazareth:"In the beginning the Word already been around. The Word was with lord, and the Word was lord. Heexisted in the beginning with God. God created every thing through him, and nothing was madeexcept through him. The word gave life to everything that was created, and his life introduced light toeveryone. The sunshine shines in the darkness, and also the darkness can never extinguish this."John 1:1-5 (NLT)Be With You Always -- Reminding them of their omnipresence, Jesus assured their disciples Hewould always be together, even to the end of the age :"And be sure of this : I am with you always, even to the end of the age." Matthew 28:20 (NLT)This unique ability to be present with each individual (not just the 12 disciples, but all who believe inHim), at all times all through history, is demonstrative of the omnipresence of Jesus.Him Who Fills All -- In his letter to the Ephesians, Paul testifies that jesus "fills all things everywherealong with himself":"And the church is his body; its made full and complete by Christ, who fills all things everywhere withhimself." Ephesians 1 :23 (NLT)EternalYet another characteristic of God is His eternal nature. God is not bound by time or death. He is thefirst and the Last, the Alpha and the Omega. According to the Old testomony, there is no other God:"This is what the Lord says - Israels King and Redeemer, the Lord of Heavens Armies: I am the First
  5. 5. and the last ; there is no other God. " Isaiah 44:6 (NLT)Does this character characteristic describe Jesus of Nazareth? The Apostle John claimed yes:"When I noticed him, I fell from his feet as if i were dead. But he laid his right hands on me and said,Dont be afraid! I am the foremost and the Last." Revelation 1 :17 (NLT)What do Jesus Say?So far, weve examined the evidence because recorded by the Old testomony prophets and the Newtestament witnesses. But what did Jesus Himself have to state about this subject? If had been trulythe righteous religious teacher and holy man many claim Him to be, would He call himself God if to doso had been false? Of course not. Yet this is just what Jesus claimed. On many occasions, Heunequivocally mentioned that He is God Almighty. The Father and I Are One -- Jesus Himself claimed to become equal with God:"The Father and I are one." john 10:30 (NLT)Before Abraham, I AM - according to the Old Testament, when Moses requested to the know the titleof God, the Almighty replied "I AM":"but Moses protested, If i go to the people of Israel and tell them, The lord of your ancestors hasdelivered me to you, theyll ask me, What is actually his name? then what should I tell them? Godreplied to Moses, I AM WHO im. Say this to the individuals of Israel: I AM offers sent me to you. "Exodus 3:13-14 (NLT)In answering His critics, Jesus proclaimed Himself to be "I AM":"Jesus answered, I tell you the truth, before Abraham was even born, i am !" John 8:fifty eight (NLT)"Philip, dont you Know Me?" - whenever Philip asked to see the father, Jesus plainly told him or herhe had already seen the father. To look upon Jesus, is to look upon the Father:"Jesus replied, Have i been with you all this period, Philip, and yet you still dont know who I am?Anyone who has seen me has seen the daddy ! So why are you asking me personally to show him toyou? " John 14:9 (NLT)You Will See the son of Man on Clouds of Heaven - While position before the High Priest to becomeinterrogated, Jesus was requested who He was. NObody with knowledge of the Old testamentscriptures can mistake their response:"Jesus replied, You have said it. And in the future you will see the son of Man seated in the place ofpower at Gods right hand and coming on the actual clouds of heaven. " Matthew 26:64 (NLT)By claiming they would see Him seated in the place of power at Gods right hand, Jesus wasproclaiming Himself to be the Lord from the Old Testament:"god, the father said to my Lord, Sit in the place of honor inside my right hand until we humble yourenemies, making them a footstool under your feet." Psalm 110:1 (NLT)By claiming theyd see Him coming on the clouds of heaven, christ was proclaiming Himself tobecome the One whose rule is actually eternal:"As my personal vision continued that night, I saw someone just like a son of man coming with theclouds of heaven. He approached the Ancient one and was led into his presence. He was givenauthority, honor, and sovereignty over all the nations around the globe, so that people of every
  6. 6. competition and nation and language would obey him. His rule is eternal - it will never end. Hiskingdom will never be destroyed." Daniel 7:13-14 (NLT)Jesus proclaimed Himself to be the one and only God Himself.Accepts praise From Others Without Rebuke - In addition to His claims, what Jesus didnt say has alot to say about His identification. For example, Jesus clearly mentioned a person must only worshipGod:"Get out of here, Satan, christ told him. For the Scriptures say, You must worship the Lord your godand serve only him." Matthew 4:ten (NLT)Yet, when people worshipped Jesus or fell lower at His feet or called Him Lord, he or she did notrebuke them. He or she did not respond to them by saying, "Im only a man. Dont worship me."rather, He perpetuated the notion he should be honored like lord the Father:"He has given the Son absolute authority to judge, so that everyone will honor the Son, just like theyhonor the Father." john 5:22-23 (NLT)The following examples show christ accepting this high compliment and honor:"My Lord and my god ! Thomas exclaimed. After that Jesus told him, You believe because you haveseen me personally. Blessed are those who believe without seeing me. " John 20:28-29 (NLT)"Suddenly, a man with leprosy approached him and knelt before him. Lord, the man said, if you arewilling, you can heal me and make me clean." Matthew 8:2 (NLT)"But your woman came and worshiped him, pleading again, Lord, assist me to !" Matthew 15:25(NLT)"And as they went, Jesus met all of them and greeted them. Plus they ran to him, understood his feet, and worshiped him." Matthew 28:9 (NLT)"Yes, head of the family, I believe! the man stated. And he worshiped Jesus." john 9:38 (NLT)In each of these instance, human beings gave Jesus praise, honor, as well as titles worthy of Godalone. And He gladly accepted their own praise. What Did lord Almighty Say?If christ were the only witness of His divinity, then He shouldnt be believed. But Hes not the only realwitness. His Father in heaven also testified towards the identity of Jesus associated with Nazareth:"And a voice from heaven said, This is my dearly cherished Son, who brings me personally greatjoy." Matthew 3:17 (NLT)I Will Share My glory With No OneThe Old testament clearly documents Gods purpose to share His glory with no one else:"im the Lord; that is my title ! I will not give my glory to anyone else, neither share my praise withcarved idols." Isaiah 42 :8 (NLT)In truth, one of the ten commandments prohibits worship of false gods:"You must not have any other god but me." Exodus 20:3 (NLT)If God will not share his glory with anyone else, then by definition, Jesus associated with Nazarethcan not share in his glory. Unless, of course, christ and God are one and the same. And this is theplacement put forth by the Creator from the Universe:
  7. 7. Gods Voice SpeaksGod testified before men he would bring glory towards the name of Jesus:"Father, bring glory to your name. Then a voice spoke from heaven, stating, I have already broughtbeauty to my name, and i will do so again.a " John 12:28 (NLT)And Jesus spoke of the glory they share:"Now, Father, bring me personally into the glory we shared before the world began." john 17:5 (NLT)Following the birth of jesus, a host of angels praised lord in full sight of men, thus giving glory toJesus:"Suddenly, the angel had been joined by a vast host of others - the armies of heaven - praising Godand saying, Glory to God in highest heaven, and peace on the planet to those with whom god ispleased." luke 2:13-14 (NLT)John also testifies to the glory of Jesus:"we have seen his glory, the glory of the Fathers only Son." John 1:fourteen (NLT)Its the same glory God proclaimed He would share with His son in the old Testament:"The full proclaims the Lords decree: The Lord said to me, You are my son. Today I have becomeyour father." Psalm 2:seven (NLT)How could god glorify Jesus, and remain true to His word to never give His glory in order to anyoneelse, unless giving beauty to Jesus is the same as providing glory to God?ConclusionThe characteristics of God, just about all shared by Jesus of Nazareth, reflect the satisfaction of anOld Testament prediction - a promise around the world. God promised a sign, that the virgin wouldconceive a child, a boy whose title means God is with all of us, meaning He would be God in theflesh:"All right then, the Lord themself will give you the sign. Appear ! The virgin will conceive a child! Shewill give delivery to a son and will call him up Immanuel (which means God is by using us)." Isaiah7:14 (NLT)This prophecy was fulfilled in the birth associated with Jesus of Nazareth:"As he considered this, an angel of the Lord seemed to him in a dream. Joseph, son of David, theangel said, do not be afraid to take mary as your wife. For the kid within her was conceived by theHoly Spirit. And she or he will have a son, and you are to name him Jesus, with regard to he will savehis people from their sins. all this occurred to fulfill the Lords message through his prophet: Look! The virgin may conceive a child! She will provide birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel, which means God is with us." Matthew 1:20-23 (NLT)Yet, despite this miraculous sign, and also the miraculous life which followed, most of the world hasfailed to recognize the Creator among them. They Did Not Recognize HimThis is the message of the Gospel associated with John. God came into the planet in human form, yetthe very world He produced failed to recognize Him:"He came into the very world he created, but the world didnt recognize him." john 1:10 (NLT)
  8. 8. Even those who lay claim to the wisdom of this world failed to recognize their own Creator:"But the rulers of this globe have not understood it; when they had, they would not have crucified ourglorious Lord." 1 Corinthians 2:8 (NLT)Even many self-proclaimed christian believers fail to recognize the true identification of Jesus ofNazareth. He is the Christ, the lord of lords, and full of kings. He is the actual Alpha and the Omega, the beginning and the end.Dont replicate the mistakes of those who wont acknowledge the glory of Jesus of Nazareth. He ismore than a holy man, the prophet, and a teacher. He is God among us.Jeremiah 29
