Whether you are using Twitter to promote your business or interact with friends and family, there is something for everyone in this intermediate class.

  4. 4. PROMOTED TWEETS • Like advertising these are promoted tweets that advertisers have paid to place in your timeline. • You can identify them because they have a promoted label on them.

PROMOTED TWEETS • Like ads these tweets are targeted based on your likes, dislikes and recent retweeting/following history. • You cannot opt-out of promoted tweets but you can dismiss ones that you do not like in your feed. You can do this by hovering over the tweet and a Dismiss option will appear.

They have a valuable asset that marketers want and if a celebrity is going to connect with that audience with a specific message compensation makes sense. • However a Tweeter’s credibility and reputation are at risk. How can you properly review something if you are getting paid to write it? • Also, for non-celebrities you don’t want to gain a reputation as a spammer just so you can cash in on a paycheck.
