- Most common case of cat-
scratch in immunocompetent
host : Bartonella henselae.
- Bacillary angiomatosis seen in
immunocompromised host
especially AIDS.
- AIDs can occur from either
B.henselea and B. quintana

- papule or pustule : 3-30 days
- regional adenopathy : 3 weeks
- extranodule ( CNS ,liver ,spleen ,bone)
disease : 2%
- Node suppurate : 10 %

1. Dermal form : red papule , vary in size
and number.
2. Painful subcutaneous nodule

5. • Investigation
- serologic test
- PCR
- Histologic examination and clinical finding
- Histologic examination with Wharthin-starry
silver stain

6. • Treatment
- A single ,double-blind ,placebo-controlled study
involed 29 patiens.
- 14 of whom received azithromycin .
- Lymph node size regress 30 days after
treatmaent more often in the azithromycin –treated
patient.
- Other antimicrobial : erythromycin, doxycyclin,
rifampin,trimethoprim-sulfamethoxazole and
ciprofloxacin.
