  • www.Bighugelabs is a great photo editing site which allows you to create realistic-looking magazine covers.
  • Create interesting effects with your holiday snaps by using www.bighugelabs features.Invite the students to imagine a poem or to write a short paragraph from this image prompt.
  • Ask the class to write a poem or short text using the stress patterns above
  • An example of a short poem. Of course, students are free to create their own poems without teacher prompts.
  • Select a group of images together, either from your own folders or cut outs from magazines / the web. Give the students a time limit to come up with a short story which incorporates the images above. Students read their stories out or pin them on the walls for the whole class to read.
  • Students can create interesting dialogues from picture prompts. Get students to bring some pictures cut out from magazines and then swap pictures for pairs of students to create dialogues. Stick them up around the walls of the classroom for students to view the dialogues.
  • Review the story of this famous couple.Invent the dialogue between Romeo and Juliet.
  • Use images of couples from newspapers or magazines to get your students to invent how the couples met.
  • Use the newspaper generator from www.fodey.com as a fun writing activity format to supplement an image
  • Use the special effects “News Bulletin” feature from www.tuxpi.com to enhance ordinary photos. What does the headline “Teaching Unplugged” refer to? It’s been in the ELT news a lot, recently! You can easily save the edited image onto your computer and then add to your blog or wiki.
  • Use the special effects “film strip” feature from www.tuxpi.comThis would be great for class projects. This tool adds variety to simple images! What is Janet saying to her students back in 1982? Would they be similar things to what she tells them now?
  • Visualisation activity. An Open Door.Picture yourself in this photo. What can you see to the left of the image? What can you see to the right of the image? What are you going to do next? Compare your ideas with your partner.
  • Play a guessing game with an image of a famous person. Great for recycling yes/no questions,
  • Yes, this is the lovely George Clooney! What is his connection with Abruzzo?
  • I love using www.toondo.com to create effective teaching materials. Students can create their own cartoons to embed in thier student blog or class blog. Language you have presented can be recycled in the form of short dialogues. This cartoon is to practise slang expressions.
  • Together with a partner, see how many adjectives beginning with “C” you can jot down.
  • What’s the idiom here?Have you ever “let the cat out of the bag”?What happened exactly?
  • Good for:compare and contrast type activities.advantages and disadvantages debate / discussion.all levels from elementary to advanced
  • Motivational poster from www.bighugelabs.com
  • Motivational poster from www.bighugelabs.com
  • Sites and Web 2.0 tools used in this seminar.
  • Feedback.
  • Closing credits.
