Editing AS Media

 1. 1. Editing AS Media
Jake Chadburn
2. 2. Continuity
Continuity is a piece of editing where the shots flow together smoothly, the audience should not have the ability to notice the change and it should keep them interested.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=CpPWdgGa28k&feature=related
This clip shows continuity editing.
3. 3. Montage Editing
There are two types of montage editing, soviet and Hollywood, Hollywood being the more recent and soviet coming from the 1920’s.
Soviet is where the editing is trying to make a meaning of shots which aren’t connected where as Hollywood montage is narrative information in a compressed fashion.
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ITXwoQWJveU
4. 4. Transitions
There are many different types of transitions they are all used to connect clips together, wipe where the screen seemingly slides away, dissolve where the top layer dissolves revealing another layer beneath they are very important as they can set the mood of a scene.
