SUMMARY
Ongoing IT difficulties at OrthoSynetics were preventing consistent delivery of reliable client services. Without the expected IT speed and reliability, customer complaints were increasing, and service renewals were in jeopardy. Adopting a new strategy to move from legacy infrastructure to Azure cloud, all servers/applications were to be migrated, largely eliminating physical infrastructure. SoftwareONE experts were called in to collaborate with OrthoSynetics to design a new cloud architecture and help to migrate the Azure cloud platform. The successful move was made in just five months with significant improvements in platform reliability and performance. Most importantly, the change led to significantly improved customer satisfaction and retention.

Customer Need:
Unilever’s business intelligence applications are used to accurately plan promotions & commercial actions to bring all the different Unilever products to local markets. At its core, the system consists of a data warehouse based on SQL Server. Updating this system to improve its performance was crucial in order for Unilever to be able to stay ahead of its competition.
Solution / Service:
Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS); Onboarding Azure, Design & Implementation, Trainings, Disaster Recovery Procedures, Support
Benefits:
“Microsoft Azure Infrastructure as a Service (IaaS) offers us the flexibility, scalability, and just-in-time-performance that we need. Azure only bills us for the times in which number-crunching machines are actually running.
Sven Lenaerts, Project Manager for Customer Development, Unilever
Initial Situation: Since AGROTRADE was facing increasing hardware costs for its physical servers, the company chose Azure as its central hosting platform to cut costs for hardware and complex administration. The company was also interested in a single, central communication platform that would integrate all required services and improve collaboration and security. For those reasons, Office 365 was the preferred solution.
Solution / Service: Migration of ERP system to Azure IaaS; Migration to Office 365
Benefits: “Our company likes to implement the latest technologies. This helps to make our work more effective. Thanks to our cooperation with SoftwareONE, we have a well-established ERP system in place, and our key IT services are based on the Microsoft Azure cloud platform. This has allowed us to cut costs spent on purchasing and upgrading our physical servers, relieved the workload for our IT department, and heightened security by allowing us to store backups of all our data,” said Sergiy Orlov, IT Director of AGROTRADE Group
Initial Situation:
Agora was using Google Apps for email. They were extremely dissatisfied with the user experience, lack of integration, complex administration and minimal support for the Gmail App sync tool for Microsoft Office. Agora’s goal was to have better control with an integrated IT system.
Solution / Service:
SoftwareONE performed a cutover email migration overnight from Google Apps to Microsoft Exchange Online; eliminated Agora’s disparate systems and enabled centralized management for their IT team. SoftwareONE deployed Microsoft Intune device management to protect and monitor Agora's remote workstations across the state.
Benefits:
“Moving away from Google allowed us to scale our own business as well as provide additional security we were lacking and better management of the overall technology infrastructure. It’s set us apart as a leader in the cyber charter school movement in Pennsylvania.” Dr. Michael Conti, CEO, Agora Cyber Charter School
Initial Situation:
Many of NaXex’s remote staff members were working on disparate IT systems with complex centralized workstation management. It had become increasingly difficult to troubleshoot and resolve issues with workstations, e-mail, and productivity tools. NaXex’s goal was to gain better control of the situation through an integrated IT system. In order to meet NaXex’s complex business requirements and minimize the administrative workload, they decided to make Microsoft Office 365 its main collaboration platform.
Solution / Service:
Full migration to Microsoft Office 365 incl. provision of Skype for Business, OneDrive, SharePoint Online; email migration of 1,050 users to Exchange Online; set up of Exchange hybrid infrastructure; ADFS farm and WAP
Benefits:
Greater collaboration options for staff via Office 365 features such as Skype for Business and SharePoint Online
Efficient control, easier maintenance & management of centrally provisioned services by one single platform with integrated infrastructure
Greater employee and IT productivity
Customer Background
Heterogeneous communication and collaboration structures
Call quality issues with audio and video calls

Customer Benefits
20 conferencing rooms equipped with new Skype Room Systems, making Skype for Business / Teams the single communication clients for 2,000 employees worldwide
Improved user acceptance of conferencing technology
Central accessibility of all employees with Skype for Business / Teams as single telephony interface
Smooth communication without interrupting daily business during transition phase
Initial Situation:
The demerger in 2013 created a challenging situation in terms of SAM for Valmet: a lot of new agreements had to be signed and many license transfers from the previous company had to take place. Furthermore, Valmet has approximately 13,500 users/desktops worldwide that need to be managed. Thus, the objectives were to uphold compliance and ensure that usage rights were used and purchased in a cost-efficient manner.

The important part here is that the tools are all great – a near necessity today. However, don’t forget the when experts were polled @ Gartner a few years ago they asked what was the most important element of success – the answer….- someone to make sense of it all.
Don’t forget it’s a people, process and technology mixture that makes SAM work.
PyraCloud Benefits
Provided immediate insights which quickly identified Azure spend tracking at 3X the allocated cloud budget. • Drilled down and identified high utilization VMs to shutdown or turn off during off hours.
“PyraCloud provided quick insights into the actual spend and trends going forward for the Azure EA agreement. We realized – via PyraCloud - that our Azure spend will be 3X higher than what we actually committed and this was easier and quicker than going to the Azure Portal.”
Richard Bezjian, Director of Engineering at LA Metro
PyraCloud delivered immediate benefits. LA Metro quickly gained insights into its Azure spend and realized that the Azure spend was trending to be 3X higher than the initial budget. The IT team was then able to drill down into specific cloud resources and work with Line of Business and other key stakeholders to take the following actions: 1. Identify high utilization Virtual Machines (VMs) and take proactive steps to throttle their use 2. Conduct automated shutdown of VMs during off hours 3. Work with development teams to turn down any VMs that were not being utilized By taking these proactive steps, LA Metro was able to get its Azure spend in control and is using the PyraCloud platform going forward to make sure cloud budgets are not exceeded for the term of the EA agreement. Richard Bezjian, Director of Engineering at LA Metro, said that, “PyraCloud provided quick insights into the actual spend and trends going forward for the Azure EA agreement. We realized – via PyraCloud - that our Azure spend will be 3X higher than what we actually committed and this was easier and quicker than going to the Azure Portal.” LA Metro plans to continue using PyraCloud to help them meet the business requirements of cloud cost control for their Azure environment. Additionally, LA Metro is planning on using the features of PyraCloud that will help them better govern and manage budget and spend of their Azure environment
