  2. 2. What is Alloderm Grafting? AlloDerm gum grafts are ideal for addressing issues with gum recession and gum defects (periodontal). This means gum recession caused by the aging process, grinding or clenching your teeth, aggressive tooth brushing, or gum recession that occurs as a result of gum disease. AlloDerm has proved its versatility and safety in more than a million diverse procedures in general, orthopedic, urogenital, and dental surgeries. AlloDerm owes its exemplary safety to the safeguards at every step starting from donor screening to the final packaging.
  3. 3. Procedure of Alloderm Grafting During the procedure a pouch is made under the gum tissue and the alloderm is inserted into the pouch. The graft is then stitched into place and the patient’s gum tissue is gently elevated over the graft and stitched into place. In most instances healing is uneventful with a patient taking Tylenol or Advil for post-operative discomfort for 1-2 days. Most patients return to work within a day.
  4. 4. Benefits  Improved patient comfort and acceptance  Equivalent biocompatible to autogenous grafting  Availability of larger quantities, making it ideal for multiple-teeth coverage  Shown to reduce post operative complications related to a secondary healing site
