“The Jisc Learning and Teaching Practice Experts Group is, I
think, the most important and impactful community of practice
to which I belong. It provides space for members to both share
experiences from their own institutions and gain insight into the
experience of others. The group has provided a network of
critical friends enabling me to reflect upon the student
experience at my own institution in the light the challenges and
success shared by others. “

“I remember getting involved with Jisc around the Learners
Experience of eLearning. As part of this I joined the prestigiously
titled Jisc Experts Group where I was awed by the presence of
‘true experts’ who I had only previously had the honour of reading
about in Journals – now I was sipping drinks and having a chat
with them over a lovely Birmingham Studio lunch. As the network
grew and changed name I had the opportunity to meet with a wide
group of staff and students from many different institutions. I was
able to learn much from the group and also took the opportunity to
share my own stories from Northampton – congratulations on 50
excellent events and looking forward to many more 😊”

“I have been member of the student experience experts group
over the years under its various names and guises as it evolved
into a vibrant community of practice. I always cherished these
meetings when attending meant that I could get informed of
sector developments, keeping measure on the pulse of what is
important, what the current challenges are – and always return
back to my institution with some useful insights.”

“It has inspired me and provided examples for me to aspire
to and measure myself against at a time when I felt alone
using edtech in an English college…”
“It enables me to better understand how other HEIs are
engaging with the digital transformation agenda and
ensures that my institution is informed by the most current
thinking and practices.”

“Value being part of this community, networking and
sharing experiences. The social interaction side has been
greatly missed whilst meetings have been remote, makes
you value those chats over coffee more than ever!
Have enjoyed sharing projects with the group, contributing
towards discussions on Jisc programmes, frameworks etc.
and taking away ideas to implement in practice. The
student and staff digital experience surveys and the digital
capability frameworks are embedded in what we do locally.
I was also inspired through this group to complete the Jisc
digital leaders programme.”

“For me the regular meetings were a much-valued
opportunity to meet and be updated on each other's UK-
wide and international research projects, all facilitated by
Sarah and her team. It was a friendly, collaborative and
supportive environment as we worked across different
institutions in HE and FE to discuss and share our findings
from researching the student experience of e-learning.
It contributed to a series of valuable collaborations and
well-received publications enhancing the research
contribution for many of us over the next 10 years and
onwards.Sometimes time away from "the bubble" is simply
a great therapy too!”

“Jisc learning and teaching experts have been the single
most influential group of people in my career. They bring
together deep knowledge, insights and understandings
about the use of digital technologies for learning, teaching
and research. The most important and distinguishing
aspect for me is their willingness to share these openly and
generously with the wider community creating a powerful
and influential voice in the sector.”
