  2. 2. Havana is the capital city of Cuba. This city is one of fourteen Cuban provinces. Havana has over 2,4 milion people and the largest city in Caribbean region. The city extends mostly westward and southward from the Mexician Bay. Around the Havana Almendares River traverses from south to north. Conquistador Diego Velázquez de Cuéllar founded Havana on August 25, 1515 on the southern coast of the island, near in nowadays the town of Surgidero de Batabanó. Later, King Philip II of Spain established Havana in 1592. Today, Havana had almost 400 years old and the city is multinational. Current mayor is Juan Contino Aslán.
  3. 3. In Havana people find many attractions for tourists: museums, palaces, avenues, public squares, churches, fortresses, musical festivals and ballet. The a lot of many places of entertainment in Havana offer special cultural activities, famous films in the all world, which rivalled New York City or Paris. There are also many bookshops, markets and shops.
  4. 4. Museum of Decorative Arts The most famous museum in Havana is Museum of Decorative Arts, which builders built beetwen 1924 and 1927. It was example French Renaissance.
  5. 5. National Museum of Fine Arts Well-known is too National Museum of Fine Arts, where collected art from colonial times. Tourists find there furniture, old pottery, silverware, glass and many others items from the colonial period
  6. 6. The Museum of the Revolution People visit often The Museum of the Revolution located documents Cuba’s history. This museum containing works by Goya, Velazuez and Peter Paul Rubens.
  7. 7. In Havana there are also museum of collections eastern culture. It houses permanent expositions about the rich Arab Islamic culture. There are: the replica of Arab market and original prayer room devoted to the practice of Muslim faith in the city.
  8. 8. In capital of Cuba go on Havana’s performing arts. There are many theatre (Great Theatre of Havana, National Theater of Cuba). In Havana are many opened, exclusive hotels. There are Hotel Riviera, Hotel Plaza, Hilton Hotel, Hotel Nacional de Cuba.
