Aqua Aerobics Resuming at Zembiec Pool
Aqua aerobics classes will resume at the Maj. Douglas A. Zembiec Pool beginning
Tuesday, June 11. Deep water aqua aerobics classes meet Tuesdays and Thursdays
10:30 – 11:30 a.m. Deep water running classes meet Wednesdays and Fridays 11 a.m. –
noon. An aqua belt (limited supply available at the pool), water bottle, and swimsuit

Army Substance Abuse training for civilians mandatory
“Workplace Violence Prevention,” Tuesday, June 11, and “Suicide Prevention,”
Wednesday, June 12 will be held on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-
Henderson Hall in Building 230 from 1 to 2 p.m. Civilians are required to have two
hours of Army Substance Abuse training which would include Drug Free Workplace
(Substance Abuse Awareness) training and one hour of Suicide Awareness training. If
an employee participated in the “Suicide Awareness Stand Down,” they will have met
the requirement for the year, and if an employee completed Workplace Violence on line,
it will also meet the yearly requirement. If anyone needs special accommodations or

Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP) annual training
scheduled
Threat Awareness and Reporting Program (TARP) annual training will be held at the
Town Hall building on the Fort Myer portion of JBM-HH at 10 a.m. Wednesday, June
12 and July 17.
NOTE: This training is given by the 902nd MI Group Fort Belvoir and is mandatory

The Armed Services Blood Program, specifically serving men and women of the
armed forces, will be on the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
Thursday, June 13 from noon to 4 p.m. in the Community Center, Building 405. They
are looking for a few good volunteers to roll up their sleeves and donate blood.
The Armed Service Blood Program directly supplies donations to Walter Reed
National Military Medical Center, Bethesda, Md., Fort Belvoir Community Hospital,
Malcolm Grow Medical Center (Joint Base Andrews, Md.), and Afghanistan.
Keep in mind that donating blood is purely voluntary.

Patient Education Classes
Adopt a healthy lifestyle -- attend a nutrition education class at Rader Clinic. The
Pre-diabetes class covers information on how to prevent or delay developing diabetes.
The Healthy Heart class covers lifestyle changes to improve high cholesterol and high
blood pressure. Upcoming Healthy Heart Class is set for June 13 at 1 p.m. or June 27 at
8:30 a.m.; or Pre-diabetes Class June 20 at 8:30 a.m. Classes are open to all beneficiaries

NEW – Celebrate the Army birthday with cake and lunch
In commemoration of the Army's birthday, there will be a cake cutting ceremony in
the JBM-HH Dining Facility at 11:15 a.m. Friday, June 14. The JBM-HH dining facility
will then open for lunch from 11:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. to celebrate the Army’s 238th
birthday. The meal is open to all (active duty and reserve component military
personnel, retirees, DoD civilians and family members).

Twilight Tattoo performances run through August
Twilight Tattoo, Wednesdays through Aug. 28, is an hour-long military pageant
featuring Soldiers from the 3rd U.S. Infantry Regiment (The Old Guard) and The U.S.
Army Band "Pershing's Own." Experience a glimpse into American history through
performances by The U.S. Army Blues, vocalists from The U.S. Army Band Downrange,
The Old Guard Fife and Drum Corps, and The U.S. Army Drill Team.
This performance is free and open to the public. Due to budget constraints, there will
not be bleacher seating for Twilight Tattoo this year. Grass seating is available, and we

Camp
Youth Sports and Fitness is offering two sessions of British Soccer this summer, June

2013 JBM-HH Army Ten Miler Qualifiers
Registration is now open for this year’s 2013 JBM-HH Army Ten Miler Team
Qualifiers. This year’s Army Ten Miler will be Sunday, Oct. 20. FMWR will be hosting
two ATM Qualifiers this summer for Active Duty Military only on Friday, June 28 and
Friday, July 26. Each ATM Qualifier will be a 10K Race on Joint Base Myer-Henderson
Hall beginning at 6:35 am at the Myer Fitness Center, Building 414. On-line registration
will close on the Wednesday prior to each date. Race Day registration will be accepted
on each date from 5:30 a.m. to 6:15 a.m. inside the Myer Fitness Center, bldg 414. To

Gettysburg Trip
The Battle of Gettysburg was a turning point in the Civil War, the Union victory that
ended General Robert E. Lee's second and most ambitious invasion of the North. Learn

Golf Tournament
On Sept. 27 Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall Family and Morale, Welfare, and
Recreation will host the Inaugural SLICE of Summer Scramble golf tournament. The
tournament will be played on Fort Belvoir's Gunston Golf Course. The tournament
format will be four person teams playing a best ball scramble. Awards will be given
based on the group or team’s overall score. There will also be special contests for
longest drive, closest to pin, longest putt and hole in one. Each person can register with
a buddy or as a team of four. Registration is $70 per person which includes green fees,
cart, range bucket, $8 gift certificate to pro shop and BBQ meal package.

NEW – Army Birthday Run to affect traffic
The Department of the Army is celebrating the Army’s Birthday with a motivational
three-mile run Friday, June 14 at 6:45 a.m., beginning from Summerall Field parking lot.
The run will proceed through the Fort Myer portion of Joint Base Myer-Henderson Hall
and Arlington National Cemetery and return to Summerall Field.
Summerall Field parking lot will be blocked by close of business on June 13.
Regiment and Caisson parking lot will be closed for VIP parking at 9 p.m. on June 13.
Expect traffic delays near Sheridan Avenue, McNair Road and Carpenter Road during
this event, especially at the CDC and the Commissary.
