  2. 2. Most parents will gladly spend their money and time to buy clothes, food and medicine for us and toys to make us happy when we were kids. When we grow, they try to provide us with a good education and aloving home. As we know Parents feel very happy if we are kind, polite, helpful and obedient. If we are rude, disobedient or lazy, they wouldfeel disappointed and even embarrassed. After all, the way we behavesreflects on our parents.Your Lord has decreed that you worship nothing but Him, and that yoube kind to parents. Whether one or both of them attain old age in yourlife, say not to them a word for contempt, nor repel them but addressthem in terms of honor. And, out of kindness, lower to them wing ofhumility, and say: My Lord! Bestow on them Your mercy, even as theycherised me in childhood.(Al-Isra 17:23-14)
  3. 3. Sunan of Abu-Dawood Hadith 5120 Narrated by Muawiyah ibn HayadahI asked: O Messenger of Allah(saws)! To whom should I show kindness most? He(saws) replied: Your mother. I asked (again): Who next?. He (saws) replied: Yourmother!. I asked: Who next? He (saws) replied: Your mother! I asked again: Whonext? and he (saws) replied: Your father, and then your relatives in order ofrelationship.’Al-Tirmidhi Hadith 4939 Narrated by Muawiyah ibn JahimahJahimah came to the Prophet (saws) and said, "Messenger of Allah (saws), I desire togo on a military expedition and I have come to consult you. He (saws) asked him ifhe had a mother, and when he replied that he had, he (saws) said, "Stay with her, forParadise is at her feet.”Sahih Al-Bukhari Hadith 8.290 Narrated by Abu BakraAllahs Messenger (saws) said, "Shall I inform you of the biggest of the Great Sins?"They said, "Yes, O Allahs Messenger (saws)!" He (saws) said, "To join partners inworship with Allah, and to be undutiful to ones parents."
  4. 4. If our parents ask us to do something which Allah has forbidden, we should obeyAllah over the order of our parents. However, we should respectfully explain toour parents the reasons for our disobedience. If our parents are not Muslims,Prophet Mohamed (saws) taught us to be kind and respectful to them. Weshould take care of them and continue to explain Islam to them.
  5. 5. In every one of our home, there are many chores that we need to do. When we comehome from school, we should help our parents before going off to play. Tidying up,washing clothes, and mowing the lawn are a few ways we can help our parents. Byoffering our help, we show them how much we love and respect them.We should do our best to obey our parents. Also we should not argue with ourparents, refuse to help them, or make a fuss over every small matter. If we are askedto do the vacuuming, or do homework, we should try to do so as soon possible.Respecting our parents wishes is another way we can show our parents we lovethem and obey Allah (One stone two birds).
