  3. 3. INTEUM COMPANY CREATE A COMPELLING STORY Your data is the core of your operation and the heart of your story. The quantity and quality of your data, as well as its management and interpretation are critical to your organization's success. In order to create a compelling narrative that engages your stakeholders, and one that most accurately portrays your organization's mission and goals, you need an efficient, structured process to help you answer your most important questions. A comprehensive database management system is at the foundation of your story-building process and will help you meet the the ever increasing demands of your organization's data management needs.

  5. 5. INTEUM COMPANY 1DATA COLLECTION Web-based application Flexible design Process automation A web-based system allows stakeholders to access the database anywhere from a browser. Information can be recorded by the right person at the right time, whether it's a new contact you meet at a conference or a new idea you had during a lab visit. No two offices operate the same. A good system should be well structured and flexible so that your data will always have a place to go, with the right label, easy to search and analyze. Automating the data entry process can reduce workload and mistakes. Online portals (for inventors and licensees), record replication tools and integration with other systems are all proven approaches.
  6. 6. INTEUM COMPANY 2 DATA VALIDATION A set of gate-keeping mechanisms will further ensure the quality of data, for example: Record Access Control Record Condensation Automated Data Validation Granular record access control allows only the right people to view or edit certain records. The system should be able to condense duplicate records, so you won’t have 10 records of the same company with slightly different names. A good system has automated data validation tools that scan any new data input to make sure they fit within certain criteria.
  7. 7. INTEUM COMPANY 3DATA ANALYSIS To meet the increasing demands of your stakeholders, the reporting function is one of the most important features of your database system. It should be easy, fast, comprehensive and yet retain the flexibility to incorporate new fields and create new data sets. In the following slides we include a few examples of the most commonly used reports and their purposes. The reports on the right are generated in Inteum® with a few clicks.
  8. 8. INTEUM COMPANY Forecast office resources Balance workload among staff Provide support for staff Evaluate office operation WEEKLY OFFICE MANAGEMENT

  11. 11. INTEUM COMPANY Annual industry-wide surveys such as the AUTM licensing survey provide insight into key metrics across the industry. ANNUAL INDUSTRY BENCHMARKING The quality of the survey results rely on the quality of each participant’s data and the number of the participants. A pre-developed template offered by a database system dramatically reduce the workload of finishing the survey.
