  2. 2. <ul><li>Follow the steps below to create a Facebook fan page: </li></ul><ul><li>You must create a profile for the client first: </li></ul><ul><li>Fill in the sign up form on the Facebook homepage with all relevant information asked for </li></ul><ul><li>Skip the “find friends” step </li></ul><ul><li>Skip the education step </li></ul><ul><li>Upload the company logo and proceed. </li></ul><ul><li>Confirm the registration by following the instructions Facebook have sent to the email address that you provided </li></ul>

Now you can create a fan page: </li></ul><ul><li>Follow this link to get to the fan page creation page </li></ul><ul><li>Choose an option from “Area” or “Brand, product or organization” from the drop down box that most represents the company that you are setting up the fan page for </li></ul><ul><li>Type the name of the company in the “Name of page” box </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Create page” </li></ul><ul><li>Fan page settings: </li></ul><ul><li>Click the “Edit Page” button underneath the main picture you uploaded and use this menu to change the following </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Settings” </li></ul><ul><li>Enter any country restrictions that are appropriate, entering one or more countries means that only people located in the countries listed will be able to view your page. It will probably be most appropriate to not enter any restrictions here because if you enter any information into this field then logged out users will not be able to see your page. </li></ul>
  4. 4. <ul><li>Continued... </li></ul><ul><li>Enter any appropriate age restrictions. Dependant on the nature of the company you are creating the fan page for, you are responsible for setting the proper legally compliant age restrictions for each country where your page is visible. </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Wall settings” </li></ul><ul><li>Change the view settings to either show only posts by yourself, or by fans as well (to be used if the account is to be managed regularly) </li></ul><ul><li>Change the fan permission settings to either allow or disallow what type of content fans are allowed to post on the wall if you have allowed fans to post (from previous window) </li></ul><ul><li>If you choose to use the discussion, events, notes, photos, reviews and videos tabs that you can use on your page then click into each of the rest of the settings on the main “edit” page that we have been working through. For many clients these settings will not need to be changed. </li></ul>

Changing the fan page image </li></ul><ul><li>Hover over the image showing a grey question mark and click “Change picture” and select “Upload picture” from the drop down </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Browse” and select the image or logo you want to use for the fan page </li></ul><ul><li>5. Changing the details on the information tab </li></ul><ul><li>Click the “Info” tab on the main page </li></ul><ul><li>Click “Edit information” located on the right hand side to enter the following information if it’s applicable </li></ul><ul><li>The amount of different fields that appear here will be dependent on what type of organisation you selected to begin with, on the next slide are a few examples: </li></ul>The fan page is now created and you can start to edit the information on the page:
  6. 6. <ul><li>Website </li></ul><ul><li>Under the edit information screen expand the detailed info tab </li></ul><ul><li>In the field next to where it says “Website” enter the website url and any other url you want to promote such as your Twitter account </li></ul><ul><li>Company overview </li></ul><ul><li>Within the detailed info section click on the field next to company overview </li></ul><ul><li>Enter a description of the company here, this can be as long as you want but its recommended that it’s kept short to keep readers attention span </li></ul><ul><li>Founded Date </li></ul><ul><li>Under basic information, enter the date when the company was founded </li></ul><ul><li>Click Save </li></ul>Continued...
  7. 7. <ul><li>Mission statement </li></ul><ul><li>Within the detailed info section click on the mission field </li></ul><ul><li>Enter the companies mission statement </li></ul>Under the main picture on your page there is a box that says “Write something about...” In this box type the main strapline of the company you are working on
