India is the largest sugar producing country in the world. Sugar industries in India generate about 100 L of wastewater for one ton of sugar cane crushed. • Effluent with varying pH (6.4-9.5), high chemical contents, high BOD (2000-6000 mg/l), COD (4000-9500 mg/l), TDS, TS & brown in colour. • Perfect designed anaerobic-aerobic combined systems can remove organics load completely.   3. 3. 3 • Distillery Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Effluent originating from distilleries known as spent wash leads to extensive water pollution. • Low pH, dark brown colour, sweet odour, high temperature, high oil & grease, high values of total solids • High BOD & COD values. The suspended solids and colloidal solids in the effluent contribute high BOD (30000-60000 mg/l) and COD (65000-125000 mg/l). • The dissolved oxygen content of the raw effluent is below detectable limit. • Lotus is having proven treatment scheme for distillery spent wash having anaerobic- aerobic treatment with energy recovery through biogas. Dairy Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • The dairy industry is one of those sector, in which the cleaning silos, tanks, homogenizers, pipe sand, heat exchangers other equipment, engenders a large amount of effluents with a high organic load. • Dairy industry effluent contains large quantities of fats, sugar, proteins which are organic in nature & highly bio-degradable. • COD ranges from 2500 mg/l – 9000 mg/l. • Mainly anaerobic- aerobic process methods are used for treating the effluent. • Lotus treatment solution for dairy industry consists of pre-treatment, primary treatment (DAF for high hydraulic load), biological treatment (anaerobic-aerobic, UASB reactor followed by EA) and tertiary treatment and disinfection if required. Pharmaceutical Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Pharmaceutical industrial effluent contains high COD (6000-115000 mg/l), high BOD (2500-45000 mg/l) due to high soluble & insoluble organics with high total dissolved solids & total solids with varying pH. • Nutrients such as Phosphorus, Nitrogen are in the effluent.
  4. 4. 4 • Organic pollutants are from mainly raw materials & finished products. They are mostly polar & potentially resistant to bio- transformation. • Depending upon organic load and degradability, Lotus offers anaerobic treatment followed by aerobic and tertiary treatment. • Effluent nature and treatment solution are different, company to company. Food Processing Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • The characteristics & volume of wastewater discharged from food processing factories varies from products & production procedures. • It contains high organic matter like nitrogen, Phosphorus, high Oil & Grease and effluent mostly acidic in nature. • Effluent contains moderate to high BOD (2500-15000 mg/l), high COD (4500 to 30000 mg/l) with high contents of suspended solids & dissolved solids. • Many preservatives, colour, salts, oil, sugar, gelatine etc. are added as per requirement of production of various products; this adds to pollution load. • Anaerobic followed by aerobic treatment are commonly used and Lotus offers the same combination with advance tertiary treatment. Fruit Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Production of fruit juices & drinks, fruit concentrates, souses, peel pressuring products all have impact on our environment. • Produced effluents originating from Fruit processing industries and in Soft drinks have high concentrations of soluble and insoluble (suspended) organic material. • It has low pH, imbalance of nutrients, high COD (1000-20000 mg/l), high BOD values, toxins, high TSS. • Effluents from fruit processing industries varies from factory to factory and is dependent on varies parameters such as the type of production, kind of end products and type & quality of the fruit used as ground production. • We offer combination of anaerobic-aerobic process to handle effluent from the industry, in some cases primary treatment also included in the treatment scheme.
  5. 5. 5 Engineering Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Contamination of waste streams includes waste oil, coolant, benzene, naphthalene, phenols and cyanide with a range of more complex organic compounds known as Polycyclic Aromatic Hydrocarbons (PAH). • Effluent contain moderate COD (250-2500 mg/l), BOD, high suspended solids (1000- 5000 mg/l), high oil and grease content, heavy metals etc. • Considering effluent load and parameters, we offer primary treatment such as DAF, chemical precipitation followed biological treatment such as Extended Aeration, ASP, and Anaerobic-Aerobic process. Slaughter house Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Wastewater from slaughterhouse & meat processing industries has been classified by CPCB as the most harmful to the environment. • Wastewater contains large amount of blood, fats & hair. • It contains high BOD (2000-5000 mg/l), COD (4000-10000 mg/l), oil & grease, high organic matters (i.e. proteins, fats, blood, lard) & possible high chloride content from salting skins. • For slaughter house treatment, Lotus offers biological treatment (anaerobic-aerobic, mostly anaerobic filter and EA) followed by tertiary treatment. Before biological treatment, DAF mostly used for high TSS and O&G removal. Textile Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • In processing of textiles, the industry uses a number of dyes, chemicals, auxiliary chemicals and sizing materials. Textile effluents are often contaminated with non- biodegradable organics. • It generates huge quantities of toxic effluent containing colours, sodium sulphate, sodium chloride & traces of other salts. It has high COD & BOD. • Wastewater is alkaline for cotton industry & acidic for Synthetic & woollen fabric industries. • Most of the dyes are stable and has no effect of light or oxidizing agents. They are also not easily degradable by the conventional treatment methods. Removal
  6. 6. 6 of dyes from the effluent is major problem in most of textile industry. • Scouring, dyeing, printing & finishing are processes generating the majority of textile wastewater. • Lotus offers treatment solution consisting of chemical precipitation, biological aeration and advance tertiary treatment. Paper & Pulp Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Pulp and paper mills are categorized as a core sector industry and are the fifth largest contributor to industrial water pollution. Pulp and paper mills generate varieties of pollutants depending upon the type of the pulping process. • Paper manufacturing process release chlorinated lignosulphonic acid, chlorinated resins, chlorinated hydrocarbons in the effluent are the major contaminates formed in the effluent of Paper & Pulp mill. • Pulp and paper industrial effluent is rich in recalcitrant compounds and causes pollution. High BOD, COD due to presence of toxic lignin & its derivatives from raw cellulosic materials & strong black-brown colour. • Lotus offers anaerobic aerobic process for the treatment of paper and pulp industry with excellent outlet results. Beverages Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • High BOD (1200-2500 mg/l), COD (2500- 4500 mg/l), pH (6-9). • Less discharge of oil & grease, high solid content, organic matter, dark yellow colour. • Bottle washing or cleaning of machines and equipment also requires enormous amounts of clean water and generates effluent. • Lotus offers anaerobic aerobic process (UASB reactor followed by EA) and tertiary treatment for fine tuning. In some cases, we also suggest DAF for primary treatment. Rice-mill Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Rice-mill effluent is highly degradable and contains high COD (2200-4500 mg/l),
  7. 7. 7 BOD (1200-2500 mg/l), is alkaline in nature and has unpleasant odour. • Effluent has high content of organic & inorganic matter. It is rich in sodium, total phenols and silica contents it triggers the growth of algae. • The turbidity is due to the shape, size and refractive index of the particulate impurities like finely divided organic and inorganic matter and coloured compounds present in the water sample which affects the flora & fauna of water. • Lotus offers treatment process consisting of chemical precipitation and biological treatment process (UASB reactor followed by EA). Coconut Processing Industry Effluent Treatment Plant:- • Coconut processing industry contains high organic load, acidic, high O&G & dissolved solids with bad odour. Effluent is easily degradable. • Depending upon effluent flow/quantity, Lotus offers biological treatment solution with or without DAF unit. • Domestic Wastewater • Domestic wastewater consists of black- water (excreta, urine and faecal sludge) and grey-water (kitchen and bathing wastewater) from residential and commercial (institutions, malls, hospitals, airports) buildings. The mix and composition is depending on the water supply and sanitation facilities available, water use practice and social norms. • The mains constituents of wastewater are physical (colour, temperature, odour, solids), chemical (organic, inorganic, gases), biological (animals, plants, bacteria, protozoa, viruses). • Characteristics of sewage are as BOD (110-300 mg/l), COD (250-450 mg/l), high suspended solids, pathogens, biodegradable organics and total solids. • Lotus offers treatment process consisting of preliminary process, primary process, secondary process and tertiary process. • Suggested treatment solutions by our company are ASP, SBR, MBBR, MBR, extended aeration and aerated lagoons etc. Sewage Treatment Segment
  8. 8. 8 • Distillery Condensate Treatment & Sugar CPU. • Condensate from distillery unit is having characteristics BOD ranging from 2200 to 2500 mg/l, COD ranging from 4000 to 4500 mg/l, colour less, acidic in nature. • Whereas condensate from sugar industry is having characteristics, BOD from 100-150 mg/l, COD 250 to 320 mg/l, colour less and pH around 6.5. • Lotus offers treatment solution for both condensate, consisting of chemical precipitation and biological treatment process (for distillery UASB reactor followed by EA and anaerobic filter followed by EA for sugar condensate) and advance tertiary treatment for reuse. • Zero Liquid Discharge. • Zero Liquid Discharge (ZLD) is the ideal solution for brine treatment and wastewater discharge – a complete closed loop cycle where discharge is eliminated and environmental regulations met. • ZLD system can produce a clean stream from industrial wastewater suitable for reuse in the plant. • ZLD is a process that is beneficial to industrial and municipal organizations as well as environment because it saves money and no effluent or discharge is left over. • It reduces carbon footprints. • Recover high purity water for reuse. • It is applicable for industrial plant effluent treatment, wastewater reclamation and industrial recycling applications. • Lotus offers best in the industry solution for zero discharge considering client end use and budget.
