Multi-site operations and the integration of new acquisitions in a retail environment both bring their own particular IT
challenges, not least when an organisation’s set-up extends to remote areas. This was the situation facing an equipment
rental business with six divisions. Operating in diverse markets, rapid expansion had led to the opening of more than 40 new
sites in two years. The IT challenge ranged from assimilating acquisitions with their own IT suppliers to the need to manage
increasing data volumes to backup. What is more, acquisitions at short notice needed immediate connectivity so new
