The Facts The smartphone in your pocket consumes appr. 150-500 KB per a minute; and in hand, you can reach more than you think. IDC predicts that the collective sum of the world’s data will grow from 33 ZB in 2018 to a 175ZB by 2025, for a compounded annual growth rate of 61 percent. “If one were able to store 175ZB onto Blu-Ray discs, then you’d have a stack of discs that can get you to the moon 23 times. Even if you could download 175ZB on today’s largest hard drive, it would take 12.5 billion drives. Data and storage predictions for the year 2025 • 90ZB of data will be created on IoT devices by 2025. • By 2025, 49 percent of data will be stored in public cloud environments. • Nearly 30 percent of the data generated will be consumed in real-time by 2025. Let them think – use AI & Machine Learning during operation • Optimize storage and compute load balancing in real time, servers managed by predictive analytics algorithms become more efficient over time. • Optimizing cooling system operation results less energy usage, costs, and make facilities more environmentally sustainable. • Using machine learning algorithms, data center can reach up to 40% reduction in energy usage for cooling. According to the company, the new system delivers an average of 30% on energy savings.” While a human operator might have focused on preparing for the storm, the AI system took advantage of tornado conditions — like drops in atmospheric pressure and changes in temperature and humidity — to tweak the data center’s cooling systems for prime efficiency during the tornado times.
