  2. 2. 2 Our ChallengesOur Challenges - Metadata are produced on a large scale by various international stakeholders. - Metadata are cross-checked between open access services. - Metadata are more and more embedded in digital documents and hence more easily retrievable and reusable. - The ISSN International Register is a silo. - MARC 21 format is not web-friendly. - Data exchange within the ISSN network is cumbersome.
