If your change has an immediate negative impact, that’s easy to spot. However, the hard to find issues which will bite you later (switch port mismatch, OSPF authentication) will not be detected without NetMRIUnderstanding the impact of change is seeing the cause and effect relationship. Customer example : the NHS (National Health Service) in the UK previously had a common approach to troubleshooting. When the user calls in, they mute the phone and ask the rest of the IT team : “who changed anything?” They previously had Cisco Works which could show the red light when a device failed, but now, with NetMRI, they get the “Orange light” which often alerts them before a device fails. At the very least, they now have a topology view, when the user calls, which will show them the changes made to the device which is causing poor performance. They also use NetMRI’s VoIP integration to show the path which a voice call travelled, and the devices along that path which are causing poor performance

Other things Apple and HP said :Apple - they run 18m transactions/hour on Xmas eve, hence $237k per minute lost revenue when they lose the network; They had serious costs of their manual NCCM process across 15,000 devices : vulnerability checks $600k ; policy checks $468k. Hence $1m spent on NCCM annually. With manual mistakes. And the possibility that the device changed for the worse, 5 minutes after you checked!HP managed services – they had a customer experiencing 2 issues per week and an outage every 2 weeks. Team on the account was 13 people, all troubleshooting. They knew they had all sorts of problems in the network, but just didn’t have the time to address them. Purely focused on reactive troubleshooting. NetMRI immediately gave them a list of over 100 issues in the network, listed by severity. They attacked this as a project, and 12 months later the team was reduced from 13 to 6; with 0 issues and 0 outages in that time.
