  3. 3. CAREER EXPLORATION AND PLANNING  A career is not just an occupation or paid job.  It is all the productive work, paid and unpaid, performed throughout a person’s lifetime.  This includes work at home and volunteer work in the community, as well as work for an employer.

CAREER EXPLORATION AND PLANNING Our vision must include preparing all students for a highly modern world of work characterized by High Technology and Speed of Information, Rapid change in the World of work, rapid social change, time and space alterations due to increased global interactions, and the disembedding of identity from traditional societal expectations.

CAREER EXPLORATION AND PLANNING  Motivation/choices for students Different demographic and motivational factors guide you when you are making decisions concerning your studies, and your future career.  In career planning you have to be able to switch your thinking from less selfdirected learning to more self-directed learning that is focusing on your personal motives and dreams.  Self-assessment will help you to understand your personal resources, and choices that you have made so far.  Give yourself enough time to investigate your strengths and dreams so that your personal career choices will provide you better life satisfaction. 

Name five different important occasions when you have had to choose in between different alternatives. Analyze your decision making process. How do you choose the minor studies? Clarify yourself what motivates you in your studies.
