Services offered by Vet Care include
veterinary clinical and surgical services
diseases prophylaxis including sanitary
mandating
livestock and animal health consultancy including
livestock project formulation and supervision
Has extensive and in depth field experience in
planning and execution of field animal health
interventions such as vaccinations, estrus
synchronization etc.
Has a pool of qualified and in field experienced animal
health personnel both at graduate and diploma levels
Has extensive experience in working with the public
sector both at Central and Local Government level
Has substantial expertise in working with NGO’s
involved in the Livestock sector
Has established a network of private veterinarians that
are employed as consultants or sub-contractors in
carrying out field assignments
Recent field works relevant to PPR
vaccination
1997 Participated in the Rinderpest eradication
program by carrying out a vaccination campaign in
which more than 350,000 cattle were vaccinated
against Rinderpest in parts of Kiteto District.
This assignment was carried out in period of 14 days
Post vaccination sero conversion was recorded at more
than 96%
2006-2007 Carried out ECF vaccination in 19 districts
of 5 Regions of Coast,Morogoro,Dodoma,Iringa and
Mbeya
A total of more than 33,000 animals were vaccinated in
a period of 45 days
Has since 2007 continued to carry out “on demand”
ECF vaccinations in various parts of the country and in
particular Morogoro,Coast,Lindi Dar es
salaam,Mbeya,Dodoma and Iringa Regions.
2009-2010 Carried out emergency PPR vaccination
campaign in 27 districts of 8 Regions of
Tanga,Kilimanjaro,Manyara,Dodoma,Singida,
Shinyanga,Mwanza and Mara
A total of 3,400,000 goats and sheep were vaccinated
in a period of 65 days
Extensive sensitization and information campaign
was carried in the areas that were covered both before
and during the vaccination campaign
Extensive private-public partnership(PPP) was
employed during the PPR vaccination campaign
Private veterinarians were employed either as
consultants or sub-contractors
Sensitization and Mobilization
Use of mobile public address systems mounted on
4WD vehicles.VetCare has extensive field experience
in this and past experience has shown that if properly
used is an effective mobilization and information tool
Field meetings at regional,district,ward,village and
area levels. These are very important tools to inform
and mobilize decision makers in formalizing action
plans
