  2. INTRODUCTION • The Tanzania Dairy Board (TDB) was established by the Dairy Industry Act Cap. 262, 2004 • First Livestock products Board under the Ministry of Livestock Development and Fisheries
  3. Vision and Mission • Vision A competitive, sustainable and self – sufficient dairy industry in Tanzania • Mission To promote and develop a competitive sustainable dairy industry in Tanzania through effective coordination of stakeholders and provision of high quality regulatory and advisory services.
  4. TDB ROLES TDB mandate is to - To regulate - To develop dairy industry and - To promote the dairy industry. - Other roles Advocacy, and coordination of dairy stakeholders The Board promotes production, collection, processing, marketing and consumption of quality milk and dairy products by facilitating stakeholders' activities.
  5. OBJECTIVES TDB is addressing six objectives 1. Dairy Industry actors are formally registered, licensed and comply with Dairy Industry Act. 2. Dairy industry stakeholders at all levels are formally organised and coordinated 3. Relevant, reliable, up-to-date information and data on dairy are available, accessible and communicated to stakeholders
  6. OBJECTIVES TDB is objectives Cont. 4. Strategic investment for dairy industry development identified and promoted 5. TDB human and financial resource base improved
  7. STRATEGIES TDB strategies to achieve its objectives 1. To work closely with strategic partners and on going dairy development programs to reach out stakeholders from district to national level 2. Building on the recent advancements in ICT to share information and data to feed into the national dairy data base 3. Improve on the use of mass media in reaching wider dairy stakeholder groups especially those who cannot use electronic information system
  8. STRATEGIES TDB strategies to achieve its objectives 4. Working in close collaboration with national programs and private sector promoting increased investments in dairy 5.Organise and facilitate dairy industry promotional events 6.Facilitate linkage with financial institutions and other BDS providers
  9. ACTIVITIES TDB ongoing activities: • Registration of dairy stakeholders • Establishing and improving quality assurance systems during production, collection and processing Dairy Industry Act, 2004 and five regulations Appointment of Milk Inspectors in all LGA Preparation of Training Manuals • Facilitate Training and certification scheme Preparation of training modules, sensitization on guidelines Transformation of informal to formal dairy industry

ACTIVITIES TDB ongoing activities: • Coordinate dairy development and strengthening communication among dairy stakeholders  Annual Council  Dairy Development forum  Regional Dairy Platform ( Tanga, Morogoro, Manyara, Mara..)  Village Innovation Platform  SMFP Enhancement of information and communication Campaign • Conducting regular milk promotion events  Generic Milk Promotion  Coordinate and participate in Milk week  Exhibition in agriculture and trade shows
  11. ACTIVITIES TDB ongoing activities: • Rationalization of regulatory overlap between other regulators with TDB • Improving business climate by lobbing for tax incentives,
