Potential use of stock route maps
This exercise can promote land development,
efficient and targeted range management,
further promote investment on rangelands
and improve livestock resources (production
and breeds) and services.

The government has enacted the Grazing
Land and Animal Feed Resources Act no
13 of 2010, which regulates to safeguard
development of grazing lands, rangeland
inclusive. The act supports the existence
of stock routes.

• Dissemination of the results of the exercise will be at
four levels and will be through stakeholder meetings,
workshops and training utilization of the data. The
four levels will be:
– Policy and decision makers in the various sectors
related to livestock
– Regional, district and village leaders
– Research institutions and NGO’s
– Local communities – farmers and pastoralist
