  20. How the pieces you have can be turned into multimedia products • Some already have pictures or videos or presentations from work, workshops and projects. • Communications team would like to assist you to turn these into compelling multimedia products.
  21. How the pieces you have can be turned into multimedia products The process: •We start by identifying or agreeing on a possible story •We can support in interviewing and taking pictures or videos
  22. How the pieces you have can be turned into multimedia products • This is followed by a review and editing of recorded material to choose what best fits the story. using Soundtrack Pro, Adobe Audition, Photoshop etc. • This part of the process takes the most time.

  27. Using multimedia in your work Start by thinking through a story idea or concept •What do you want to say or cover or tell? •Who are your targeting with this message? •Think about the medium to reach this audience.

  33. Challenges of working with multimedia Using multimedia often requires us to learn new skills •Such as how to conduct interviews, how to be a good photo/videographer and sound/video editor.

  35. Working with multimedia–what next? Increasing consumption of web 2.0 content likely to keep raising demand for relevant multimedia products. For example, increasing use of video in websites.
  36. Working with multimedia–what next? Need for creative storytelling and productions that show the uniqueness and impact of ILRI’s research. •Requires communication methods/tools that are dynamic (not static), inspire imagination and that illuminate knowledge.
