Today we present a new comprehensive assessment of the global livestock sector I will give a brief overview of the background and process that have resulted in this unique publication
Livestock systems are very diverse. Among the biggest contrasts are between developed and developing country sectors, but even within these there is also considerable variation. Dramatic contrasts exist in the livestock sector in relation to social/livelihood issues, health and the environment, and in the trade offs between these dimensions.

Tomorrow’s discussions also provide an opportunity for the experts gathered here to explore these further. Now we are going to hear some more about the drivers, the consequences and responses as well as some selected case studies from the Livestock in a changing landscape.
