Slide 17 – Curitiba Mais Nutrição
In 2013 Curitiba established the Program “Curitiba Mais Nutrição” (Curitiba Nutritious Program, on free translation), part of the Govern Plan, involving directly seven Municipal Secretaries, coordinated by the Food Supply Secretary.
The Curitiba “Mais Nutrição” Program was built on three complementary and simultaneous master lines:
To promote the healthy inducting eating habits;
To facilitate the access to the quality food, mainly to the most vulnerable social classes;
To use the food consumption as a tool of regional sustainable development (co-responsibility between consumers and producers);
To implement the Municipal Policy For Food Security.
As a consequence of this project Curitiba created the Intersectorial Schamber of Food Security, involving then secretaries and municipal agencies, as a guaranty of proactive integration of different policies, potentiating resources, efforts and results. The secretary of food supply presides this Chamber.
Food security became a tool of health promotion, social and economic development, environment protection, life quality improvement, employment and income generation, among others.
