  2. Introduction - Djibouti as arid and semi arid country, The climates of Djibouti are hot, desert and dry between 25-40°c. - The rainfall is not abundant with an average of 150 mm / year. However, they are predominant in the coastal areas during the cool period and within the country during the hot season. - There is no permanent watercourse; it is the residual flood waters, aquifers that are exploited. therefore; there is a lack of animal feed resources relating to animal resources in Djibouti. - 80% of Djibouti animal resources remained in traditional pasture system depending on natural feed. while 20% remain in sedentary- agro pastoral society. Which some of them are working on model system for animal feed system.

Available Animal Feed Resource with Sedentary,(Agro-pastoral) Farmers. • Some of agro-pastoral farmer are following on model system to feeding their animals balanced and adequate feeding program. • they have a cultivate areas to plant different types of fodder. • Alfalfa, Soudan grass, panic grass...ets are the most available types with the farms. • User forms: farmers are using the produce grass in the form of hay and green grass to feed the animals.   4. Continue: Elephant grass Soudan Grass. Some trees  Agro-pastoral society enhanced their performance since last 10 years. Animal feeding program in Djibouti has a many critical challenges, Which has become an hindrance of improving the animal feed production performance. these challenges are: 1- Environmental condition: The hot season from May to September with an average temperature of 40 ° C 2- lack of farmers capacities of animal feed side. 3- lack of supporter organizations to enhance performance of local farmers by providing fodder cereal, fertilizers ,,,, and improved cereal.
  5. Animal feed- Concentrate • Animal production farmers are formats the available components to create concentrate feed. sorghum, wheat bran, maize and soybean. • for vitamins and mineral resources, some of the farmers has abilities to make national forms from available elements.
  6. How reliable are they and where are the gaps? • the farmers has willingness to work hardly to raise their production to a level of self- sufficiency in next 5 years. • Supply level is less than demand level. so, in cooperation between horn Africa countries, must be there strategy and work plan for promoting the supply level. • The farmers are suffering a many gaps to develop their production performance. • difficult import process, to import some of animal feed types from neighbor countries. • lack of regional organizations to support and to promote the import and export of animal feed among the Horn of Africa. • lack of farmers capacity: training , seminar for animal feed.

RECOMMENDATON. • for improving animal feed resource in eastern Africa countries, must be there regional organization which would supervise and coordinate the training and seminars for the farmers. and also, could planning strategy for this. • must be there common areas between neighbor countries to produce animal feed together. • must be there political plan or strategy and deals, for financing common areas. • must be there common institute for improving and producing grains for eastern Africa countries.
