ILRI Projects in Pakistan
1. Agricultural Innovations Program (USAID)
2. Sindh Agricultural Growth Project – Livestock
Component (World Bank)
3. Development and application of decision-
support tools to conserve and sustainably
use genetic diversity in indigenous livestock
and wild relatives (UNEP/GEF)
Agricultural Innovations Program
Goal:More effective science and innovation in livestock
Major Activity Output Intended outcome
Dairy value
chains
More efficient dairy value
chains through more
efficient institutions,
responsive technical services,
and effective innovation
systems
Small-holder farmers in
disadvantaged areas gain access
to products and services;
inclusion in the value chain allows
them to increase their market
knowledge and farm smarter
Small ruminant
value chains
Increased efficiency of feed
resource use, higher animal
productivity, and more
effective targeting of high-
value markets
Overall productivity of small
ruminant value chains increases.
Farmers are able to target new,
more profitable markets
Feed, Fodder &
Rangeland
Enhanced productivity of
livestock feed production
from range-lands, fodder
crops, and food-feed crops
Farmers spend less on livestock
feed, and innovative approaches
have long-term, sustainable,
environmental benefits
