  2. 1.0 Establishement  The Veterinary Council of Tanzania is established under, the Veterinary Act (CAP 319), to regulate the activities of the veterinary profession, and delivery of animal health services in Tanzania.  The Council is composed of nine (9) members who are appointed by the Minister responsible for Livestock Development.
  3. 1.0 Establishment---  The Council has a Secretariat based at the Ministry which is responsible for day to day implementation of Council activities.  The Registrar is the head of the Secretariat and secretary to the Council. Other members of the Secretariat are the Deputy Registrar, Technical Personnel, Assistant Registrars and Inspectors who are based at district level.
  4. 1.0 Establishment-------- Vision  VCT becomes an effective institution that ensures the provision of accessible and sustainable quality veterinary services for improved quality livestock and livestock products.   Mission   To regulate the veterinary profession in order to contribute fully to food security and poverty eradication through increased quality livestock and livestock products in an environmentally friendly manner.
  5. 2.0 Functions of the Veterinary  Register Vets, Vet specialists and Veterinary Practice Facilities, enrol Paraprofessionals and enlist Paraprofessional Assistants  Regulate Veterinary Practice  Recognise qualifications, training facilities, training Institution and Colleges  Determine minimum standards for:- Veterinary Practice Facilities  Conduct scope of Practice activities by Veterinarians, Veterinary specialist, Paraprofessionals and Paraprofessional Assistants
  6. 2.0 Functions of the Veterinary -----  Exercise effective disciplinary control over the professional ethics and conduct of veterinary practice  Promote and encourage educational advancement with regard to the practice of the veterinary profession  Exercise effective disciplinary control over the professional ethics and conduct of veterinary practice  Promote and encourage educational advancement with regard to the practice of the veterinary profession
  7. 3.0 Roles VCT regarding ECF Control  Register, monitor & supervise ECF vaccine delivery agents in collaboration with Assistant Registrars (DVOs) -ensure that only registered/enrolled/enlisted service providers are trained todelivery ECF vaccine under the supervision of a vet  Recognize courses and trainers for ECF vaccinators.  Supervise training of ECF Delivery agents  Take legal action against defaulters & malpractice
