Focus on women and their empowerment
Evidence is that women:
 represent the majority of poor livestock keepers
However, they have limited:
 control over livestock resources
 access to information, extension, financial services, markets
 Livestock intensification/commercialization => women lose control of
livestock products and income
If women are disempowered livestock development will lag behind
Focus: support the empowerment of women in livestock
