Brooder facility identification • Priority was given to poultry facilities owned by individual women or cooperatives – South and Tigray • A poultry farm owned by women cooperative and one other farm owned by a woman were used to brood the first batch of Kuroiler chicks • In Tigray a cooperative poultry farm owned by women was used to brood the first batch of chicken
  4. 4. Recruitment of enumerators • Attempt was made to have more number of female enumerators
  5. 5. Sensitization • Prior to the beginning of the on-farm study sensitization activities were done in the various villages and women’s representation was significant
  6. 6. Innovation platform participation • Participation of women in the national innovation platform meetings was significant but still needs improvement • As one of the actions identified during the gender strategy development effort was made to have more women to the 5th Innovation platform by inviting more women poultry producers • When ever public and private institutions are invited they were encouraged to be represented by capable women
