This presentation by Darlindo Pechisso, from DINAF, gives an overview of the Mozambican government’s efforts to restructure the forest sector since 2015: changes in legal framework, measures taken and key challenges.
Under the new cycle of government in 2015, the National Driectorate of Land and Forests (DNTF), which used to be under the Ministry of Agriculture (MINAG), has now been moved under MITADER and retitled the National Directorate of Forests (DINAF).
The presentation was made at the fourth international learning event of the China-Africa Forest Governance Learning Platform, held in Pemba, Mozambique, from 23-25 October 2017.
The platform event focused on finding ways for Chinese businesses in Africa, and African businesses linked to China, to generate strong benefits for local economies in Africa while looking after forest resources for future generations.
