  21. 21. Walk Through of a Sample IMSConnect ABEND S80A problem Customer Scenario IMS Control Region OTMA Flood Monitor invoked. IMS Connect out of storage condition (ABEND) © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 21
  22. 22. Documentation Used Customer Scenario BMC Energizer for IMS Connect JOURNALS for the 30 minute timeframe when this problem occurred. IMS SLDS for the timeframe problem occurred © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 22
  23. 23. Energizer Batch Response TimeReport Using IMS Connect journals and REPORT=RESP to get a general idea of what was processing during the timeframe © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 23
  24. 24. Energizer Batch Response TimeReport Discovered that User ID FP11012 has input requests of 3000+ messages from 10:26:48 thru 10:27:04 (16 secs) Used Filtering USER=FP11012 against JOURNAL data © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 24
  25. 25. Energizer Batch TRAN DUMP Report Digging a little deeper by running REPORT=DUMP, TYPE=TRAN to see actual full OTMA input / output message © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 25
  26. 26. Log Analyzer for IMS Sample Report Log Analyzer was used to read in SLDS and IMS Connect Records to see the ‘full’ picture during the problem timeframe © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 26
  27. 27. Conclusions Made Client application from User ID FP11012 was running into a loop situation and sending in I14 transaction ID over and over. Tran I14 was not a valid transaction and IMS response was DFS064 DESTINATION not found. The runaway client app caused OTMA flood in IMS Control Region as well as the S80A ABEND in the IMS Connect A/S Customer normal IMS Connect throughput is approx 30/40 msgs per second but Energizer Governor feature was enabled but set to 400 trans/second © Copyright 10/3/2012 BMC Software, Inc 27
