AcetalCopolymer –POM C) Acetalresinisahighlyversatileengineeringplasticwithmetal-likeproperties,itoffersanexcellentbalanceofdesirablepropertiesthatbridgethegapbetweenmetalsandordinaryplastics.POMCblackmachiningiscapableofCNCmachining,CNCmilling,CNCturning,andfabricationservices.Sinceitsintroductionin1960,acetalpolymerhasbeenwidelyusedaroundtheworldinmanyapplication,suchasintheautomotive,appliance,hardware, electronicandconsumergoodsindustries.POMChasgainedwidespreadrecognitionforitsreliabilityandperformanceinthousandsofengineeringcomponents.

Properties and CharacteristicsPOM-C black acetalis known for its •High strength and stiffness (MOE 2600 MPa) compare to PA 6.0 (MOE 1600 MPa) •Ease of machining (no microporosity) •Dimensional stability (low moisture absorption 0,2%). •Low coefficient of friction (0,35) compare to PA 6.0 (0,45). •Low moisture absorption (0,2%) compare to PA 6.0 (9,5%) •Low wear/ inherent self-lubricity •Good electrical insulating characteristics because moisture has minimal effect of POM-C electrical properties (volume resistivity ≥ 1013 Ωxcm) compare to PA 6.0 (because of high water absorption volume resistivity ≥ 1010Ωxcm) •Excellent resistance to gasoline, solvent, and many other neutral chemicals •Better resistance to hot water and strong caustic high pH (basic) solution range of 5-9 •POM C black is best suited for close tolerance mechanical parts. •The added ethylene linkages of acetalcopolymer increase the thermal stability, elongation,toughnessand better impact properties

LubricantsandHydraulicFluids.POM-Cgenerallyhasgoodresistancetobaseoils.Thepresenceofchemicaladditivesinsomeoilsmayhaveamarkedeffectonperformance, particularlyattemperaturesabove66°C. Gasolines Tensilestrengthofacetalresinisessentiallyunaffectedbyexposuretogasoline.Stiffnesscanbereducedamoderateamount,dependingupontheconcentrationofaromatichydrocarbonsinthefuel.Thisslightplasticizingeffectiscompletelyrecoverableifexposureisterminatedandthehydrocarbonsallowedtoevaporate AgriculturalChemicals POM-Chasexcellentresistancetoagriculturalchemicalssuchascommercialtypesofinsecticides,fungicides,andfertilizers. Acids,Bases,andOxidizingAgents POM-Chasgoodresistancetomanyweakacidsandweakbases. Itisnotsuitableforserviceinstrongacids,strongbases,oroxidizingagents.Thus,theyarenotrecommendedforusesoutsideofpHrange4-9.Furthermoreothercomponentsinwatermayreactwithacidsandbasesandaffecttheresistancecharacteristics.
