  10. 10. StudioFor my ‘front cover’ I decided to photographCharlotte in a studio in Caversham. I decided to usea studio to get the best quality image as possible, also to strip the image back to basics, just havingCharlotte sat on a stool without her guitar allowsthe image to reflect to the audience that thisinterview is really about Charlotte and the personshe is. I’m going to photograph charlotte laughingnaturally and giving eye contact to the camera. Thenatural laugh will again reflect to the audience thenatural flow of the interview to come and that it’snot fake at all and furthermore by giving eyecontact to the camera it allows the image to grabthe audiences attention more. I hope to create thisimage and for it to look natural and flow nicelywhilst also capturing the audiences attention. The studio in Emmer Green
  11. 11. Double Page SpreadWhen planning where to shoot my double page spread Ispoke to my artist Charlotte and asked where shegenerally did her song writing, she said to me hergarden. Therefore I’ve chosen to shoot my double pagespread in Charlottes garden, I wanted to create a morenatural and normal image ensuring that Charlotte wascomfortable. Charlottes chooses to do her song writingin her garden as she feels she can express her emotionsand be alone there whilst still being out side with therest of the world. Although the audience will not knowthis is Charlottes garden I hope the image will connotethat natural, relaxed, comfortable feel about it andhopefully the audience can connect with that ratherthan a fake photo shoot with Charlotte really dolled upthe audience can’t really relate to that.Charlotte’s garden
  12. 12. ContentsFor my contents page I’ve decided to shoot Conor Bakerand Daisy and Bethan in the same location in CavershamCourt Gardens. Obviously I will shoot the Conor and theGirls in different parts of the gardens but I chose to shootthem both in this location as it gives off a very naturalvibe which I want my whole magazine to give off and Ihope this can achieve it. Furthermore the gardens is justopposite Richfield Avenue where Reading Festival is heldso I’m hoping to give off that ‘festival vibe’ within thephoto shoot. The images I take will reflect the festivalvibe ensuring that I target the right audience with myimages.Caversham Court Gardens
  13. 13. Costumes and Props…
  14. 14. Charlotte props/ costumes -For Charlotte I wanted to give off a really‘indie alternative’ vibe to really reflect to myaudience the theme of my magazine. Withthe signature ‘Pete Doherty’ trilby andguitar I feel I can really convey this to myaudience. Furthermore the use of skinnyjeans and army style shirt also reflects theGlastonbury festival theme to the audience. Finally I wanted to keep my magazinelooking as real as possible, I researched intoartists and lot of them of this genre woresunglasses in photo shoots, so to follow theconventions I chose to include sunglasses inmy shoot too.
  15. 15. The image I’m going to take ofConor is only of his top half. He willbe wearing a Lyle and Scott stripedt-shirt, I specifically chose Lyle andScott due to my research andfinding numerous ‘alternative/indie’ artists wearing the brand. Also I will have Conor holding asignature black guitar reflecting thegenre of music to the audience andhopefully grabbing their attention.Conor props/ costumes -
  16. 16. With the two girls again like Conor it was only oftheir top half. For Bethan I chose a plainwhite/grey fluffy jumper and sunglasses to sit onher head again connoting to the audience thegenre of music the girls make. Furthermore withDaisy I chose I plain top for underneath and thena denim jacket on top, I chose the denim jacketas again they are very popular with ‘alternative/indie’ artists and they have just come intofashion reflecting to the audience that they arefashionable young girls. I also will get the girls towear red lipstick to grab the audiences attentionand to draw attention to the girls.Daisy /Bethan props/ costumes -
  17. 17. Thinking of names for my magazine…• Flame• Tune• Note• M• Howl• Fresh• Focus• Zest• You• Pulse• Own Stunts• Ask• Awake my soul• Basic Space• Inside• In Between Dreams• Is this it• Rush• Forever and Ever• What If• Sway• Towers• The Sound• Sahara• Tonight’s Today• Ultimate• Young• Blinding• Bright• Captain• Crazy• Wave• Daylight• Dreaming• Echoes• Expectations• Fantasy• Fix• Flightless Bird• Fluorescent• Moon• Wide Eyes• Disposition• Breeze• Young Blood• Future• Stand Up• Ghosting• Hey• Howl• If You Wanna• Infinity• Intro• Jamming• Joy Ride• Love is Noise• Never Know• Own Stunts• Possibility• Roll With It• Soul• Shine• Shock• Shuffle• Situations• Song Bird
  18. 18. I have chosen…• Own Stunts• I have chosen this to be the name of my musicmagazine because although it isn’t anything to dowith music, it can be targeted at a very largeaudience. Also when this is on the shelf nomagazine has a name like this so it will stand outto the reader. Finally by using ‘Own’ in the title ofthe magazine it uses synthetic personalisationand makes the reader feel like it’s their ‘Own’magazine.
  19. 19. • Out of the fonts that I have chosen some ofthem don’t stand out to the reader enough orare hard to read, e.g.• So I have ruled out having these fontsbecause I need my font to be bold and reallyeye-catching to the reader and I don’t thinkthese fonts will be able to do that.
  20. 20. The font I have chosen to use...• I have chosen to use this font becausealthough it is quite simple, it is very bold andeye-catching for the reader hopefully grabbingthere attention. I’m going to keep the font inblack so it really stands out to the reader anddoesn’t look cheap it has a classic feel aboutit.
  21. 21. Colour Scheme for all pages...• Of course I won’t use allthese colours at once but Ihave decided to use themthroughout my magazinemaking it exciting andbright for the readerinstead of it being plain.
  22. 22. Mode of Address• Own Stunts will be written in an informal style ofwriting to try and connect with the readers on acertain level. I feel that if I use formal writing Iwouldn’t be able to connect with my readers verywell as my target audience is 16-22 year olds andthey should feel that they’re reading a cool newmusic magazine not a formal newspaper.Although my writing will be informal I won’t beusing any abbreviated words such as ‘cool’ to ‘kl’or ‘you’ to ‘u’. I won’t be doing this because I feelit will loose the classiness of the magazine eventhough it is quite informal.
