  7. 7. Classes: • Each student enrolls in either one or two courses of 3 credits each. • Depending on the city, classes are held either on campus or in conference rooms at the hotels. Classes are usually held Monday through Friday in the morning. There are usually no classes on Saturday or Sunday. • The main professor for each course travels with the group from city to city. The professors are highly experienced, multilingual, and cosmopolitan.
  8. 8. Courses offered: Both graduate and undergraduate level courses are available.
  9. 9. EUR 337/637: Introduction to the European Union: Economics, Politics, Culture and Society: This course provides an inter-disciplinary overview of the history, evolution and current challenges facing the European Union. It focuses on the economic and political rationale for closer integration, on the difficulties of reconciling sharply different cultural, legal and political traditions, on the stresses caused by immigration and enlargement, and on the recent challenges presented by the global economic and financial crisis..
  10. 10. COM 312/612: Cross-Cultural Communication: Understanding Cultural Differences in Europe In an increasingly globalized and flat world, the ability of companies and individuals to be effective internationally has become a key ingredient for commercial and personal success. Set in the highly multicultural environment of the European Union, this course will develop the students’ cross- cultural skills and offer a hands-on learning experience that will greatly benefit them personally and professionally.
  11. 11. BUS 326/626: International Business: This course presents a systematic overview of international business. There will be an integrated progression of topics ranging from understanding the political, economic, cultural and economic influences on international trade and investment flows, to the analysis of the strategic and operational alternatives when conducting international business. Through practical case-studies, team projects and visits to leading European companies and organizations, the students will be exposed to the actual implementation of the topics covered in class on real-life companies.
  12. 12. MKT 354/654: International Marketing This course focuses on the development of essential understanding, knowledge and skills for engaging in global marketing activities. It provides a thorough overview of the key dimensions of the international business environment, including political, social, economic, legal, and cultural issues. Special topics emphasized include the impact of the global economic crisis, the growing importance of environmental concerns, and dealing with corruption and bribes. The course takes a close look at the various elements of the marketing mix in order to understand how they must be adapted in response to different market conditions, taking into consideration a multitude of competitive, cultural and strategic considerations. Lessons include: lectures, case-studies, team projects, exercises, visits to leading European companies and global organizations, and daily real-life observations in the European countries visited.
  13. 13. FIN 388/688: International Financial Markets: Understanding the Global Financial Crisis This course offers a broad introduction to the workings of the global financial system, the dynamics of the main financial markets, the nature and goals of the key financial institutions and the crucial role played by central banks and regulatory agencies. An important part of the course focuses on the 2007-2009 global economic and financial crisis, reviewing its causes and consequences, as well as evaluating the merits of the numerous government intervention schemes in the U.S. and Europe. The course ends with an assessment of the dramatic changes taking place in the global financial architecture as a result of the crisis.
  14. 14. MGT 313/613: Cross-Cultural Management: This course focuses on the study of international management practices and managing diversity in the context of understanding multicultural and international affairs. The objectives of the course are to understand the impact of culture on international management, to identify the areas in which cultural differences present a challenge in communication with persons of different cultures, and to explore our cultural backgrounds and distinctive management assumptions and practices. The course is designed to be a stepping-stone for students to become cross-culturally effective managers. It will help students become more self aware of our cultural conditioning, individual biases and assumptions and the way they impact our interactions with people who are different from us. The course will include visits to leading European companies and international organizations in which different aspects of the topic will emerge through presentations and conversations with company executives. In this way, the students will be able to see the practical relevance of the concepts covered in class.
