Evaluation q.3

 1. 1. How effective is the combination of your main product and ancillary texts?
A2 MEDIA - HELENA LOPEZ - 9449
2. 2. My main portfolio project is:Teaser Trailer
with 2 ancillary projects:Film Magazine Cover&
Film Poster
3. 3. The clear link between my teaser trailer, film magazine and poster can be automatically identified through the use of colours, fonts and imagery creating an identity for the film. By having a clear theme throughout the three platforms it makes it obvious to the audience that each of the products are related. Also the use of my film title ‘ONE SHOT’ acted as a 'logo' due to the fact that it was kept the same throughout and also placed on every product. This allowed for film recognition and repetition throughout.
4. 4. The concept of the ancillary tasks was to advertise and promote the film and also provide more information about the film. To make this clear the theme had to be the same, eye catching and attractive to the eye, via the use of fonts, colours and images used.
Dark colours such a black, red and grays' were used continually throughout my magazine and poster which connote danger and violence. This technique is a subtle form of marketing as after the audience views one product, they will automatically subconsciously associate the colours used with the colours in the other products and recognize the same product line instantly.
To make the teaser trailer combine effectively with the ancillary tasks I took still shots from the teaser trailer and used the for both products. The audience would then intertextuality associate the two products together. I split my poster in two section to reflect the contrasting narrative, using the same colours of black and gray merging together just like the two halves of our trailer. Also I took advantage of the iconography used in the teaser trailer such as the unseen gun and knife and incorporated them in both products to offer new imagery of the film. Instantly linking the three together successfully.
5. 5. Another factor that has been referenced throughout is the institutional information of the film. I had to place the each logo I created my poster texts to link it with the one on the teaser trailer. This is because it acts as a seal of approval to the audience and shows them that each of the products are from the same company.
I have also included the same credits and release date show with in the trailer, which shows another direct link between the two products.
6. 6. The representations of showing the protagonist ‘Tre’ along side other characters throughout the platforms, reflects our narrative, showing who the main focus of the film and the people that surround this protagonist. The images shown are used to connote danger, with images of guns, knifes and bats to alert the audience of the fast pace life style lead by the characters in the film, this is the impact upon the audience, and this can be seen throughout each of the platforms. The use of showing the same images across these platforms shows continuity of the plotline. The main focus of my magazine is promotion the film however in order to attract a wider audience, I have incorporated a range of the cover lines and pleasures which will interest others out side of my target group. I chose to use a range of cover lines which relate to animation films, winning tickets, well known actresses and actors and exclusive interviews and film reviews in order to target a very wide multi- cultural male and female young audience.
